Default iPod Integration with OEM setup...is it possible??

as you can guess from reading this thread i am behind in the times when it comes to new gadgets. purchased a nano ipod yesterday for my wife so that she can listen to her favorite songs during her evening walks. she down loaded her songs and for the first time i got to listen to some of those songs through her ipod and it sounded fantastic...i enjoyed it so much that i am planning to buy one for myself and thought how cool it would be if i could here the songs while driving the tt. i know that many of the new cars and stereo systems come equipt with ipod connections.

i have a 03 with the oem stereo and wondering if there is a kit so that i can integrate the ipod. i know that the 03 and later cars have MOST and do not know if this might present an issue. all feedback and advice greatly appreciated. thanks to all in advance...manny.

Talk to Eric at Bumperplugs (Rennlist sponsor, great guy and the DaVinci of Porsche paint matching).
He has the Dension unit which interfaces the iPod to the factory OEM MOST network.
Many Rennlist members have the systems installed.

Would it work with NAV?

I would like to do Sirius or iPod when I get my car back.

Check out the info on this link .... http://www.renntech.org/forums/index...howtopic=17484

I was considering this as well, but as I just got my car, I am still working on figuring out everything else and once I have that done, then I can think about adding something to the mix.

i spoke with eric and he told me that the dension unit would work with the standard stereo head unit and nav. if anyone has the dension unit installed in conjunction with the standard stereo can you please post some pics.

CDR23 is the same between the Carreras and Boxsters/Cayennes.
You might want to search the Cayenne & Boxster forums, they've been discussed.

Yes, it works with PCM2.x ...... it's the PCM, not the NAV.

If you have the OEM Nav/Bose, the gateway is a cost effective upgrade ($500). If you don't have the OEM NAV/BOSE, you might better off getting a Pioneer or Kenwood double din unit with NAV, Bluetooth,Sirrus, and Ipod all built in for about $1,000. You'll have to get the oem trim piece to move the HVAC controls into the lower center consol. From there you can upgrade amp/speakers and you feel necessary or have the budget.

duane..i thought that if your car is equipt with the MOST network that it would be difficult to do an aftermarket nav/stereo setup as you describe above.

No, MY03+ MOST vehicles can have an aftermarket audio system installed...you simply have to replace both the amplifier and headunit.....it's been done/described many times.
