Whoops. I guess BAT isn't like eBay. You enter an actual bid, not a max bid. Oh well.

Well, you'll get some good conversation going at least. Doubt you'll win at that price though.

Agreed. But it doesn't provide near the drama.

On the other hand, it puts all interested parties on notice. They get to stew about for a few days before the animal spirits force them to do unreasonable things .

I'll just keep puffing up the value proposition to goad them on

$20k with the potential for as much as $12k from Raby...plus shipping to and fro...plus refreshing and updating this car (new Litronics at $2-3k, bumper spray job at least) is a steal???? 40th AE's really worth that much or do you guys just make an order of magnitude more than I do each year, lol? Dammit...I knew I shoulda become a male prostitute and not an engineer.

I think poster above did that - well it's jumped from $6K to $12K just because of us

It will go higher for sure - i reckon $19-20k.

No one here has said 20k was a steal. I said 20k was still a reasonable deal because at $35k you have a well sorted driver with a Raby motor. I dare you to find a better deal on a Raby car. Hell, find another Raby car for sale right now.

You won't make a profit at that price and you probably can't even resell it for that price, but it's still a good deal for what you are getting.

Raby motor or not it should be treated as a bit rough 996 with a broken engine. 20k is nuts. I know his engines are mucho $$$ but also the same to fix.

I wouldn't pay much over the current bid either. 12+shipping on the engine, another 3 for shipping and sales tax, at least 3 to fix the interior and exterior, new clutch, you could end up under water real fast and still not have a perfect car.

Slakker clearly bid to frighten everyone else off a preemptive strike.

One day it will be valuable and we will all kick ourselves for letting Slakker buy it for just $12k.
