996 Engine Compartment Cleaning
Has anyone cleaned their engine compartment on their 996. I'm not looking to get mine show clean but would like to do a cleaning.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

the Tornador tool with a good degreaser.
I use Optimum Power clean diluted 50/50

I would then make things pop with Chemical Guys Black on black spray dressing or carpro's PERL

There are a lot of harness electrical connections and some will collect moisture and corrosioni will occur. This can lead to phantom CELs or warning lights or other inexplicable odd behavior in the future.
For instance, shortly after I washed my Boxster's engine and compartment the spoiler started acting up. It cured itself and has never come back but I have never washed the enigne or engine compartment since.

I clean all of my engine bays each time I wax my vehicles...at least once a month. never had issues but I also don't use a hose and water. Tornador tool is perfect for this, flip the switch and air dry

My advice is unless the engine has experienced a leak and made a mess of the enigne or the engine compartment to not clean the engine compartment or engine.

I wouldn't get a high pressure washer in there, but a regular garden hose with some cleaner should be more than fine. However, the engine on these isn't really all that sexy to look at, so personally I'm not too concerned if it's a little dirty in there.

Armor All all-purpose cleaning wipes and a pair of nitrile gloves. Once you get everything clean, Armor All protectant wipes to dress the plastic parts. I'm not a fan of watering the engine.

Have used Oil- Flo on my air cooled car in the past.
Spray on, let sit for a bit, hose off.
Start engine to help evaporate the residual water.
Get it from- Larry Reyniolds, CarCareSpecialties.

I use spray detailer on a microfiber cloth. That at least gets the big obvious stuff clean. Not a fan of hosing off the engine either.
