Default What is the best choice for 996.1 OEM transmission mount replacement?

I need to replace the transmission mounts in my 2000 996.1. I don't want to increase NVH at all, so I'd like to know what brand is closest to OEM (or if something is better than OEM but does not increase NVH at all).

I'm also torn between replacing the individual mounts or the entire mount assembly. Replacing the individual mounts is less expensive, but requires buying or renting a mount removal/install tool (https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/por...-tool-cta-2303). Apparently, the replacement part for the entire assembly is a 997 part number (997.375.03.303) -- if that 997 mount assembly truly performs better than the 996 original, it might be worth buying the entire mount assembly.

The options are below:
997 Mount Assembly: ($387) fits 996.1 according to Pelican): https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...e47510f82b94a7

Replacement Mounts:
Uro ($57 x 2): https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...=c&SVSVSI=0667
Lemforder ($43 x 2): https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...=c&SVSVSI=0667
Hamburg Technic ($28 x 2): https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...=c&SVSVSI=0667
Porsche Branded ($137 x 2): https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...=c&SVSVSI=0667

If anyone has any info on whether the 997 part is an improvement on the original 996 mount, or which of the individual mount insert replacement brands are best (closest to Porsche OEM, or better than OEM with no NVH added), I'd appreciate your feedback.

The 997 Transmission Mount Assembly is only $306 here (https://porsche.oempartsonline.com/o...et-99737503303), so I'll probably go with that to avoid the hassle of pushing in the inserts and getting the tool, and hopefully the superseding 997 part is an upgrade performance wise. I'm trying to confirm that it fits a 2000 996.1 -- the link says it does not fit a 2000 996, but the detailed listing shows it fits a 2001, so it seems like it should fit a 2000. I've message the seller, no response yet. If anybody knows whether or not 9737503303 fits an early 996.1 6-speed, please let me know.

The last line shows compatability with 2001 996.1:

Is your car an automatic? It looks like you are linking to both manual mounts (just the insert), and what I think of as the turbo mount (is it the same as an automatic mount)?

I used the Üro and it feels like factory.
You can get it cheaper here: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...t=8756&jsn=830
Also, if manual, there is only 1 required for the 996, not 2.
It does require the tool.
If you have an automatic, it requires the tool plus the automatic adapter.

Mine is a 2000 996.1 6-speed. Honestly, the more I look at parts listings the more I get confused. I saw some comments that a different mount is used for Tip, but I've also seen some parts listings that show that it's for both. And the whole assembly 997 listing shows it fits 2001 996.1 (presumably 6-speed), but not 2000.

I've been complaining about Pelican parts info in their listing, but now I'm starting to get that it's complicated with superseding parts.

Thanks for the info. I'm very confused about it needing only 1 mount. Aren't the mounts the two rubber things in the 997.375.033.03 photo below? Or is the picture below actually a Tip part and the 6-speed looks different?

Also, how easy is it to insert the mount and have it aligned/rotated correctly with the tool? Also (sorry for barrage of questions), should I order "stops" (https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...=c&SVSVSI=0667) as well (assuming 2 stops required)?

Check out the videos online for the installation tool.

The 997 part you are looking at is for the turbo cars, not a 996 non-turbo.

The tool is very straightforward to use, I used it to install a lemforder mount insert into my 04 996.2 manual.

That is for the tip.
Below is what the G96 manual transmission look like:

I circled the single transmission mount insert in red.

I've attached the Porsche PET.
You can also see the mount insert in the picture on page 166.

The piece you had with 2 inserts was this, from the Tiptronic:

Porsche doesn't want to sell the insert(s) they want you to purchase the entire mount.
That's why they are not listed in the PET.

With the tool, the job is pretty easy.
Alignment isn't a concern really, but aligning would not be difficult either.
Without using the tool it is almost impossible without dropping the transmission and using a press.
You can rent the tool from members here.

I own the tool and have loaned it locally, but don't loan by mail.
I've had tools that never returned and had to repurchase.
If I can drive to someone's house, then I'll loan them a tool....maybe.

The stops are just thick rubber, and normally are in good condition in my experience.

No time to respond at the moment -- but a huge thank you to @TexSquirrel and @Eric Kessel -- I was hugely confused (parts listings on various sites didn't really help). There's no substitute for the voice of experience.

I too was confused about which trans the OP had.

FWIW, I went with the Lemförder mount with some RTV in the hollow spots. I tried some 2-part stuff but couldn't get it to cure. I don't think the RTV is really doing anything.

Here are some pics from my replacement.

Went for lemförder part too.

Before fitting it I used it as a mold to make the inserts myself using 80 Sh(A) polyurethane resin.
Result was good but apart from increasing NVH it did not reduce the thud when unloading-loading the drive train when shifting. I removed the inserts.
I run rss semi-solid engine mounts.

I seriously don't think the RTV will make any difference. If the mount can break up hard rubber then RTV has no chance of being useful. Best option to help the stock mount is one of these in polyurethane. They come in two densities i have the yellow softer one and it stiffens a stock mount a little but will actually last.
