Default imobilizer in emergency ?

I was under the impression should you have a remote failure on a 993 You can signal the mobilizer to start condition by switching the ignition key on and off to a unique code .

Does anybody know if this is true and how does it work.?

I do have all codes rom my Vin #

Thanks
Elliot

Yah, this has always been there - it's the same sequence used to recode the key fobs if needed. The timing of the pauses are quite critical, I suggest you try it first before you are in panic mode. Takes a few tries

It's good to have these instructions on your phone and not printed in the car, but if you do that, make sure the code is not with the instructions too ..

Also, its good to keep a few things in the car - a spare DME relay and a screwdriver/battery to replace the battery in the key fob.

Cheers,

Mike

correct me if I'm wrong, but won't unlocking the car with the key actually deactivate the immobilizer? Better yet, does anybody know any of the 993 thieves? They probably know best how to start the car. Terrible to say, because it's true

Nope, that will trigger the alarm. The only way to defeat the immobilizer is to either use the key fob or go through the cycle with the ignition key to enter the code.

For sure 993's are stolen these days, their value is going up. I suspect a common way is to tow the car away though, it's hard to defeat the immobilizer so it's much easier just to take the car behind a truck.

Cheers,

Mike

Remove the screw and you don't need a screw driver. Screw is unnecessary since it clicks together.

I do not trust it with out the screw - drop the fob and you will see why.

Not sure how well my old fob clips together as well ... and carrying a little screwdriver in the car is no big deal, you need to pack a battery too ..

THe code might be in your service book that hopefully comes with the car - otherwise it can be gotten from the dealer by supplying the VIN and proof of ownership. There are two codes that come with the car from the factory - one is the immobilizer, the other is for the stock radio. If you do not have the code, you cannot access the car if your fob breaks, and you cannot reprogram any of of fobs. Pretty key code!

As I recall it, a local dealer was able to provide me with the key code at no charge.

This is how I used to turn the my car on when I didn't have the key fob. I know how to turn it on in my sleep now. Very useful info to have.
