Default Hot Deal on Mobil 1 Synthetic - Almost

Advance Auto Parts has a "Hot Deal" on all Mobil 1 synthetic oils. Just $35.99 for 5 quarts AND a Mobil 1 Extended Performance Oil Filter. I planned on buying 10 quarts along with the two oil filters for the car. Trouble is, Advance doesn't carry any Mobil 1 filters for our 993's.

So it wasn't quite a "hot deal", but I still bought 10 quarts for just $72. And if anyone needs a Mobil 1 M1-102 oil filter, I've got two free for the taking.

Looks like Advanced Auto doesn't carry the proper formulation from Mobil 1 for our cars either.

This is a good deal from advance, but I must also stand with Magdaddy, I buy ALL my oil from Menards or Walmart except for gear oil on the Porsche. Mobil 1 15W-50 for the Turbo, Synthetic Shell Rotella 5W 40 for the Benz. Menards frequently has 1 or 2 dollar off rebate coupons also. Cheap DOT 4 brake fluid as well. This is the first time i've seen a comparable deal from the auto parts stores, but i stick with OE oil filters on the Porsche. On the benz it doesn't matter as much.

Thanks for the heads up Magdaddy. I will dedinitely buy the bulk 5 quarts from Walmart from now on. Does Walmart also carry the single quarts?? I like to keep a quart on hand in the car. They also make great stocking stuffers.

Everytime I go into Oreily's I pull up the 5qt price on the Mobil 1 flavor of my choice from Wally World (Walmart) and they match. I think I'm running 15/50. It's less than $28 for 5 quarts before tax.

Couldnt you just save any ol 1qt oil container, or grab one from a jiffy lube and fill with your favorite?

Yes - The thought had occurred to me, but some how I have it in my head that I'm less apt to have a spill in the frunk if it's a new sealed and unopened quart.

Problem solved! I've got two of these in the frunk of my 993. I've stuck them to the side of my CD-changer that's in there with some velcro tape. You can also hide a quart or two in the smugglers box (spare tire area) of the trunk where you might be less concerned about minor oil leaks.

P.S. I'm still holding out for the next 30% off on M1 20w-50 at Pep Boys, if it ever happens again. In the meantime, I'll probably do the Walmart 5 quart of 15w-50 that others praise (or at least the O'Reily's price match).
