I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to document the process. I used it to redo a new alarm fob a bit ago and it really helped me out, so thanks for the document.

I just bought a spare fob and had it programmed by a dealer. They charged $80. Well worth it to avoid headaches, hassles, and the intricate do it yourself method.

I have never seen such a fob from Porsche. Maybe it was a dealer installed option or an aftermarket addition. In both cases it should be easy to look at the alarm module to determine who made it and get the programming procedure & wiring diagrams off the internet. The up side is getting additional fobs should be low cost. This also might explain why the led on the door does not flash as any OE supplied alarm is likely not present or disabled hence no light.

The door LEDs are working.

I think it is standard Porsche, maybe this is how they were delivered in Europe.

The brochure for the alarm is clearly Porsche, and it also references the console LED.

Thank you for your support. I am now more concerned about programming the fob, but Imhave already written to GTAlarm. Hope they reply.

I have looked under the passenger' seat and found this. One of them says Steuergeraet Alarmanlage, which, if my ancient German skills are not dead, means alarm system control unit.
There's another that says GT16, which may be connected with the alarm (GT Alarm).

I am also sending a pic of the console LED - again, it is mentioned in the official Porsche alarm brochure that came with the car.

Thoughts?

Is there a photo of the led and its mount point, in the brochure or manual? I ask because it does not appear to be factory. I would suspect factory would be installed above the switches, in the black plastic fascia.
Perhaps aftermarket, dealer or dealer subcontractor alarm installed.

The console LED is clearly referenced in the Porsche alarm brochure. It operates correctly as indicated therein.

It should be Porsche fitted.

LE: attached description of LED function in the brochure.
