What is this warning light?
#16
There's on older post claiming this "the lateral acceleration sensor in tiptronic cars. When the light comes on in hard fast cornering, the tiptronic box would not up-shift by itself, even in manual, even on red-line cut-off, to prevent spinning the car. You have to shift yourself."
I don't know if this is true. In the wiring diagrams this light is simply labeled 'not used' and there's no connection to the tiptronic unit (or any other unit) so I find it hard to believe...

Yes will do that. I currently live in Germany and my car is in Florida so will need to wait until my next scape to warmer weather. Thanks for the help!

Orphaned warning light wired by 3rd party OEM to "built-in" radar detector
Came across this thread, as that warning light lit up on me last night. Been in search of an answer. It also flickers when key is turned "on" (comes on after other warning lights, but then goes out while other warning lights stay lit [engine not runing]).
It lit up last evening / flickered briefly while driving. Around the same time I passed a local yokel on the side of the road, so thinking the aftermarket "built-in" radar detector was wired to use this light. First time I even noticed it going off while driving (in 8 years / 20k). The radar detector is such old tech, I never paid attention to it and thought it was turned off (control **** in drivers side trans hub below center console trim). A control **** for (volume?) and a ring that has 3-cllick position (no owners manual). Tried multiple position to see if "turning" it off, change the warning light behavior, but no luck, always flickers then goes off in "on" key position (engine not running) while remained stay lit.

If it's a standard, this light is unused by the factory, but some clever individuals have put a warning light for radar (or lidar jammer) in that location.

It is an indicator for the lateral acceleration sensor.

Not sure yet on those points, could be still, reading / digging. I also have a '97 C2 and it doesn't have the same behavior with key "on" so is is just a TT/C4/Tip thing (and 928/944/968)? Seems odd not showing up on 993 C2 (TT & it both manual).
Never saw it light up on track days with plenty of slip, but my eyes were looking out not down. No more track days for this '96 TT. The fact it flickered last night while doing 45/50 mph in a straight line is also a curiosity if you are correct, then where is the sensor going bad / need cleaning.
