Default Horn Malfunction

Hi everyone... I have an intermittent issue with the horn in my car: sometimes when I brake hard the horn sounds by itself. Any ideas why this is happening? I have a 1995 cabriolet.

This is a very common problem. The grommets in the airbag retaining frame fail. A search here will get you some of the potential fixes or you can just replace it with a much nicer looking and feeling 996 3 spoke wheel and airbag.

Thank you all. Next time I'll be sure to search first.

As a quick tangent related to the horn: When I bought my 993 6 months ago there was a single recall on it related to horn. I took it to the dealership and they fixed it. Was this related to the same issue?

I already took it to the dealership and there were no recalls for my model. I beeline that it is related to the airbag and the steering wheel. Thanks

The part is approximately $75 from Sunset and this < https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...g-r-and-r.html > is an excellent DIY procedure complete with photos. It's a 30-40 minute job including the time required for the airbag capacitor to discharge.
