Anybody driven a Scion FRS?
I'll search and see what I can find, but I went and test drive one of these tonight. I was pretty impressed with it. Definitely not a ton of power, but a nimble fun little thing. The gearshift was great, all controls were lighter than the 993 or 968, storage space somewhere in between them. Stuff in the engine compartment wasn't all covered and looked pretty accessible. This would not replace the 993, but probably the 968.
As typical when I'm in the 993, people were quite interested in it. The salesman looked it over, along with another sales lady and a mechanic later. They all loved it, the salesman even asked if he could take pics by the scion.
Here are a couple scratched lens iPhone pics for scale. It didn't look as huge from some angles.

What a great little car, I was drifting it like a pro a couple of minutes after I jumped into it.
Someone on here described the experience like this :
"Coming out of the car I was smiling like a little girl who's just been given a pink, glittering, poney ride across a rainbow full of stars, while eating an icecream cone that is "unicorn teardrops of joy" flavored."
I really could not agree more, it took me several hours to wipe that stupide smile of my face
It really looks big compared to the 993, are you sure your 993 is full size and not 7/8 scale ?

I tried
I tried to go test drive a scion here in Ottawa. The sales lady immediately asked what car I drove over. I didn't answer and she repeated the question. I said a 911. She then said "You won't buy a Toyota or Scion. Go now." I said I drove other cars for everyday driving. She asked which one. I said "A disco and an s60" trying to be vague. She told me in an asian accent "You don't buy toyota. Too low. You go now."
I guess I wont buy one...

On my car being small, yes. I have polished it down to 7/8 size for weight savings. For a fun car, $30k would be better spent on a nice 993
Initial, that is hilarious. I busted out laughing over here.

One of our PCA instructors is a salesman at the local Subi dealership. He's bought a BRZ for his DD. He brought it to our DE at Sebring last weekend. Now, he's a professional driving coach and very good. But he embarrassed a lot of Cayman, Boxter, 993, 996 and 997 drivers over the weekend. It was really fun to watch.

I know 3 people here in Dubai that have bought the Toyota 86 version and love it!
One's a 993 RS owner and said its such a great little commuter car. I'm even thinking of one for daily driver duties instead of my high mileage GTI...
Here's a pretty one:

I spent some time in a BRZ a couple months ago and I have to say that it is ranks among my favorite drivers cars. It shares quite a bit of soul with the 993 - obviously built for the purpose of driving fun by people who understood what makes a car exciting to drive. If you've never driven one and are looking for a DD, get to a dealer and try it out. I don't think there's a better option if you don't mind the impracticality of a 2-door coupe. The only downside is a flat power band in the 3,000 to 4,000 RPM range that makes it a little less fun to drive than the 993, but if they make a turbo version it is going to be a seriously fun car. I just can't get over how large this car looks next to the 993. Reminds me of the side-by-side photo of the Fiat 500 next to the 993.

Bart, there's a long thread about them in the OT section, I would search for it there.
Short version, several folks have one and they all love them. There have been several at our C-n-C's, a really sharp looking car (I've sat in the seats, I love them).
From talking to some local Subie dealership folks at our local Cars-n-Coffee they are loosing out on a lot of sales to the Toyota due to the lack of availability (mainly of the Subies). More of the Toyota's are hitting the showrooms than Subies (one guy said 6 mo. wait for the Subie).

Amazing how much bigger it looks than the 993. And it is too.
To wit:
Toybaru 86: Width 1,775 mm (69.9 in)
Porsche 993 Coupe: Width 65.0 in (1,651 mm)
Porsche 968: Width 68.3 in (1,735 mm)
If I were you, I'd keep the 968.

My friends think I'm crazy for not buying a new FRS or BRZ as the price point was the same as the 993. While I know I'd be happy with either one, the 993 just ooozes so much more "steeze."
A little OT, but the BEE*R Frs reminds me of a certain RLer's 993
