Car Transport
I have a car I'm purchasing that will need to be transported from Boston to Idaho. Can someone recommend a cost effective transport company? I do not want to attempt to drive the car.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I used Intercity Lines to transport my car from New Hampshire to California. I was even able to coordinate with them to drop it off at Pasha, who shipped it to Hawaii. I believe their pricing could be adjsted based on your schedule and how many cars are going your way.

We've used most of them and on the top of our list sits Bill Demoise at Demoise trucking. www.demoise.com
If you call Bill, tell him JoAnne and Robert Trinkle sent you. He'll treat you well.
Intercity is right up there too. we never ever had a problem with them either except that they didn't go to some states we needed pick up's in and sometimes they are high(er) priced than the rest.

While I'm not near as lovely as JoAnne, I must give a shoutout to Intercity....they brought my new to me 993tt from Las Vegas to Richmond, VA. I doubt a particle of dust moved during their covered transport.

Plycar moved my 993tt from NY to CO and I was fairly pleased.
Upside: They were FAST! From the time I said "go" to the time I had the car in my driveway was less than a week (this could have been a timing thing though). They were the most reasonably priced for enclosed transport. Horseless, Intercity, FedEx, etc etc were all in the $1500-$1800 range and I paid $1100.
Downside: The car was pretty dirty when it arrived. It was on the bottom level of the trailer and the car above it must have been a "barn find" because my car was COVERED in dust. No damage, just dirty. Not a big deal and probably had something to do with how my car fit into their drop off schedule.
I wasn't overwhelmed with their customer service like some others are with the bigger names, but they got the job done for very reasonable money and very quickly.

Sometimes that is how it goes. That is why we have two companies that we like to deal with. It depends if they have trucks in the area. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. We also used Thomas C Sunday once and were not impressed, although others have used them and were happy. The one to RUN from is Gold Rush. TERRIBLE.
Right now a lot of the companies might be tied up. With all the auctions going on down in Scottsdale, AZ there are a ton of trucks running back and forth to AZ from all over the country. We had a problem with a delivery (or was it a pick up?) once because of that.

Never heard of this company before reading the name here this morning. Then about an hour ago I was on Rte 95 in NJ and next to me was a Ply enclosed transport. The rig was very new and high end. Didn't catch the city it was based but the state was NY. Can't vouch for the service but based on what I saw (and what was commented here) I would call them for a quote.

Plycar had a very nice display at the Concours D'elegance in Manhasset NY. They have offices (might be their headquarters) in Kings Park, NY (Long Island).
Here is a link with their key locations and their website.

The buyer of my 993 arranged shipping with Fedex (when it was called Passport) and they did a flawless job from NJ to MN. That was about 6 years ago. I was pleased with how they picked it up and the buyer was pleased with the entire process.
