Night Blue/Midnight Blue Pearl. Are they the same color?
I was getting ready to order some touchup paint for my 1995 993 with a paint code of 39C on the hood sticker. I had been told that it was a Midnight Blue metallic when I bought it used.
When I went to order some touch-up paint from www.paintscratch.com I had two choices: (1) was 39C Night Blue metallic and the (2) was 37W/F8 Midnight Blue Pearl.
Were these both 993 colors?

I have a '95 and the exterior color is Midnite Blue metallic. The paint code as shown on factory invoice is "F8V8".
I am unfamilar with the colors you reference. Suggest either purchasing touch up from body shop as they can scan your exact color for fading, or purchase direct from dealership.
Good luck with your new car.

I'm reserecting this post as it doesn't seem to have been answered and I have the same query....
My '95 car is paint code L39C, known by most as "Midnight Blue".
I parked next to a dark metallic blue '91 964 at a Porsche meet recently. The owner knew it as "Midnight Blue" however it was a very differant color to mine, much darker. We checked the code, L37W.
I checked the official Porsche paint code book with my local OPC. Both L39C and L37W are listed as "Midnight Blue", BUT THEY'RE DIFFERANT COLORS on the samples in the book!
The touch up paint stick listed (by the OPC) for my car (L39C remember) was marked L37W!!
As the original author of this post said <a href="http://www.paintscratch.com" target="_blank">www.paintscratch.com</a> list L39C as "Night Blue Metallic" and L37W as "Midnight Blue Pearl" and the samples on screen are definately differant.
My questions are....
Are these differant colors or not?
What is the proper name for code L39C?

When I was having my Euro bumper covers installed the owner of the paint shop showed me how the paint from different vendors (with the exact same paint code) were different. It's an art to match paint as it does vary.
If you're interested in the codes, I suggest you search the archives. There was a discussion a few months back about the difference between the codes for water based versus solvent based paint (for the same color).

Done an archive search and failed to uncover a definitive source for Porsche paint codes or factory color descriptions.
Also tried kindel.com and p-car.com...
There seems to be a lot of guesswork around color codes but no authoritive source.
If only Viken was still here....

I have the same car ('95 cab), same color L39C. And I bought the paintscratch touch up paint. I'm still trying to get it right - the initial touch-up is much lighter than my paint and does not match.
Haven't done the clearcoat as I'm going to try another coat and see what happens. I might try the Porsche paint instead.
Anyone else run into this problem?

yep before I had my front spoiler installed I touched up the rock chips with Factory Polar Silver and it was darker than my original paint. Very hard to match paint especially with a car that is 5 - 7 years old.

Suggest for the exact paint match have a quality body shop scan the color on the car for exact match. They can match that color and you can use for touch ups.
It costs more, but you get the correct match.

The 2 colours are DIFFERENT but you can only see the difference if you park two cars side by side in broad daylight.
The colours are so close I sometimes can't tell which is which.
Both colours are original 993 factory colours but 39C is the more common of the 2.
