K40 Radar and Laser worth installing over others similar devices

Being an Engineer my background allows me to assess all the BS that's flying around about protection systems.
I want to know what my detector is picking up and the V1 now with the K-Band 'Junk fighter' works extremely well and has eliminated almost 100% of the highway false alarms due to vehicle radar systems. The only problem I enounter is from jammers which are fairly easy to detect as they move with you.
As to stealth, I drive in Wisconsin and Illinois and Law Enforcement could car less if you have a detector. Position height is king for line of sight sensitivity, so a BlendMount.
V1 is $400 and Blendmount less than $200 if I remember correctly.
V1 guts are upgradeable for the future. Had my 2003 V1 completely upgraded for $219 last year because of the Junk Band Fighter which I tested on a 2016 model I purchased.
V1's simply don't break, I went through two Escorts before purchasing a V1. both Escorts had multiple problems. Junk!
Note, my original PassPort designed by the current V1 company owner would still function if I could find another window mount albight without lazer detection!
"Now that I'm running my old V1 I'm having issues. I can't stand this thing anymore. I've basically given up. The V1 is completely on permanent mute. I used to be able to mentally deafen the sound and now I can't."
Go to the V1 website for info on how to turn ON the Junk Band Fighter if you have it. If not, it's a $219 charge for new guts but you still have to turn the Junk Band fighter ON. Your problems will be solved, if not I will purchase your upgraded V1. I want another one for my XC70.
As to qualifications. most of what I read is gimmicky designed to seperate you from your money. These companies rely on you wanting to avoid points/money from Enforcement with no technology training to assess thier claims and the lack of your ability to test their claims. They are also hitting a psychological feeling that if it costs more, it's better and "I can afford it, so I should get it".
I haven't found anything that works better than a V1 at this time. If I did, I would have it.-Richard

I enjoyed my V1's for numerous years. When I bought the Max360, I was blown away. I ran both in my car. The 360 consistently detected radar before the V1. I love the feature in the 360 that remembers false locations. Perhaps they use different radar in your area. Traveling between Fl. & NC, I'll keep using the 360. I've moved the V1 to the truck. Rarely get above the speed limit while towing, but it's good to know where they are.

Thanks for sharing your experience, but I think comparing your built-in K40 system to the V1 is apples to oranges. If you're really going to evaluate the performance of the K40 it should be against the better built-in systems like the BEL STiR+, Escort 9500CI, and Net Radar.
EDIT: @ _NITRO_ If your V1 is old, you should contact the company and see about getting them to upgrade the internals with the new DSP chipset. That will quiet it down a good deal and help a lot with the filtering. Pre-DSP V1's are almost useless nowadays.

I will say my V1 is very old. I think it's maybe 10 years old. It was one of the first of the smaller chassis models. It surely needs an upgrade.
Thanks for the help!

" I'll be PMing you about your XC7"
Your V1 will be entirely new inside, should cost $219 last I knew.
When upgraded if you don't like it, I will purchase for the upgrade price!-Richard
"I have a Rennlist HFS degree."
Counts for sarcasm, maybe but not much else.
Also system designers, whatever that means?

FWIW, for those with V1 and iPhones, I highly suggest getting a 3rd party app- V1 Driver app which essentially makes the V1 a GPS enabled unit with auto learning of false alarms which you can opt to auto mute; makes it VERY quiet!

I have the BELL STiR with ALP defense. The radar is set to the 3 ka radar bands that CA uses. Very quiet and no false alarms. Display is mounted inside the mirror. Visual alerts are two small lights installed in the dash. 1 radar / 1 laser. Controls in the center console hidden within the smokers package compartment. 2 laser shifters in the back and front as LEOs are now shooting cars from behind. Another member said you don't need rears. For me, I wanted full protection. YMMV
As others have mentioned this is the best set up for total protection. I have not been disappointed and would buy again.

I think the key as NA430GTS says is to set your detector to what sources the authorities use. I have 3 V1's all of which have the X and K bands turned off, and it is generally really quiet. The police here use Ka or Laser. It is on occasion set off by ACC systems, but otherwise non-intrusive and reliable.

Sorry, but the K40 is expensive and crap, no arguments needed. Does it work? sometimes, but not against anything new and certainly does not perform on par with the others, especially for the money, a regular dashmount detector like V1 or escort max will beat it in radar performance, and it's laser system only works against some of the oldest guns at ideal conditions, they will get punch through
Escort 9500ci, not bad but the system has been on the market for years and the laser system can't be upgraded nor can it jam against any of the the new variable pulse rate guns. Radar sensor performance is still good, but overall system is showing it's age compare to the newest once on the market
Choosing what to put on the car depends on where you live and your driving conditions. If you are in a large city, my guess is most of the time you are dealing with police traps with laser guns. But if you are mostly out of the highway and trying to detect police cruisers running around, than it's most likely radar. But regardless if you are going to put a laser system on the car, AntiLaser priority (ALP) is the best and only system you should be looking at, they are software updateable and uses they newest generation of laser diodes that is able to work against all the new guns.
Intems of radar, ALP can be paired with many different radar antennas, including the same unit as used in Escort's 9500ci, but currently netradar or the redenso HD+ are the best options, both works very well integrated. One downside with ALP is that it currently doesn't have a external display so to get a display to show all the threats, you need to get their bluetooth module which runs an app on your phone. But if all you do is listen to the alerts and wouldn't look at a display for details, than their high-fi module gives very good and detailed alerts which should be more than satisfactory.
If you don't want integration, between the radar detector and laser jammer, than you can get the ALP with a windshield mounted detector. there are many windshield mounted detectors out there, so go on rdforum and take a look, different detectors excels in different areas, so what you want will determine what suits best, a few to consider is the escort max360 and redline, radenso Pro SE and XP, V1
Hope this helps, there is a lot of different information and discussions out there regarding this subject, if you have the time, checkout vortex radar on youtube, he puts out detailed reviews on all of these products and is very unbiased.

This whole radar/laser world is extremely confusing to me.
I was planning to get the 9500Ci, as it seemed like a well rounded package. Now after your post, I looked into ALP and their website is confusing. They sometimes describe it as a parking sensor, then as a laser sensor. Can it jam laser or not??
