Engine clicking noise
Hello, all.
991.1, 2014, C4S Cabrio, 6K miles. Had the car from new and never had an issue.
Yesterday, after a 50 miles run when I was parking the car I noticed engine clicking noise. The engine was already warm and the click was "loud"
I recorded the following 2 audios one with the PSE on and the other with PSE off. In both audios the car is stationary and switching the PSE on and off didn't change the noise.
Any idea/experience before I take the car to the dealer please (car still under the warranty).
Thank you

Sorry but mine sounded just like yours and it was a scored cylinder. Sound was piston(s) slapping the cylinder. Motor was replaced by Porsche. See thread:

It's interesting that he only heard his when fully warm and that's when I heard mine.
FWIW I start car and let it idle until the RPMs drop before I drive away. Stay under 4000 until fully warm.
It'll be interesting to see what they say when I take it in for service next month.

I thought the 991 engine is bullet proof. This is a car which never driven till RPM goes low, no high rpm till operating temp. no short journeys, and never redlined or launch controlled. I can't believe it.
The only thing I didn't do was the change of the oil after the break in period. I went to OPC and asked for it but they advised not to do it (UK specification).
car25, how many other similar stories you know about?

Does not sound good. Hopefully it's something less servere like a loose spark plug or an exhaust leak. Keep us updated. You're under warranty, so don't fret.

This morning I kept the car idle in the garage until operating temp reached. Clicking sound appeared (though not as loud as yesterday) only when the engine got warm. I took the car to work (8 miles drive), it drove perfectly well. I tried to see if the clicking noise was still there while driving but was really difficult to tell. After I arrived work I left the ingine idle for a few minutes but no sound appeared . The return journey this evening was also noise free.
I contact Porsche service department. The car is going to them next week but they want to see the car tomorrow for "quick" listen to see if it is something serious and I need to stop driving the car.
Will update tomorrow

If it is what I think it is, the sound will get louder eventually. In the end, there will be one final bang like the sound of a crunching coke can (piston/cylinder), that follows with check engine light.
Do you drive it often? If not, it could be just the valve, but still shouldn't sound like that when warm.
