Had the same issue a year or so ago... Was the same COV valve everyone has mentioned... Mine was in and out - not usually in the same trip, but in and out each trip... Dealer was able to figure it out and swap it pretty quick, and it's been fine since...

Is there a specific COV? I've heard there are several of them.

Just the one specific COV changed, or multiple?

I believe that is the part # for COVs in general. And note that there have been different series part #'s over the past few years reported. You apparently have the "C" variant. So for the problem reported it would be one specific COV replaced.....

Check WM 2400IN for a complete factory overview including specific locations w/pictures. In the case of heat failing, there is a specific COV for that which is typically the culprit.... (#3 below, the "Heater Shut-Off Valve").

As for how many COVs are on a 991 (MY2012.5 through MY 2016), # ranges from 7 to 10 per below:
1. Air Cleaner Flap
2. Acoustic Simulator
3. Heater Shut-Off Valve
4. Exhaust Flaps
5. Coolant Shut-Off Valve on Engine Bypass Circuit
6. Tuning Flap
7. Shut-Off Valve on Heat Exchanger for Gear Wheel Set Oil
8. Shut-Off Valve for Clutch Fluid Heat Exchanger (PDK ONLY)
9. Tuning Flap (cars with full X-51 Power Kit ONLY)
10. Tuning Flap (cars with full X-51 Power Kit ONLY)
#9 and 10 are not a mistake on my part.... cars with X-51 option (either option or model configuration, such as all 50th cars, and GTS variants) have multiple tuning flaps apparently.

Default Heater Out

Just scheduled service for loss of heat on my 2015 GTS. Better to happen at the start of October than later.

Has anyone had any besides PSE or the heater die yet? I'm wondering if any might cause damage, like the PDK coolant one or engine bypass or if any of those would throw a fault before anything happened.
