Real-time Traffic Information - PCM 991
Please could someone post a picture (map view) of what this looks like from the PCM in a 991? I presume the view is not like one sees in Google Maps for instance.
Thanks.
Thanks.

There is no real time traffic in a 991.1 PCM.
The 991.2 cars are the first to offer this feature……although an upgrade will be available for the 991.1 PCM later this year that will support real time traffic.
In Europe we have to put up with the lousy TCM messages which can be hours out of date and are nowhere near real time. As a result, I have a TomTom sitting next to the PCM just so I can get real-time traffic on my daily commute. It is really annoying to have to have two Sat Nav systems just to get access to real-time traffic. The PCM upgrade later this year can't come fast enough IMHO. I will be first in the queue.

Here you go:
All Porsche in EU, including 991.1, get this from last month for free according to http://www.total911.com/real-time-tr...ew-pcm-system/ and updates will be available for older cars for a fee.

Thanks for the picture, I've seen these before but they look contrived to me, marketing? for instance those + and - buttons on that screen etc.
Yes, it should be active since mid September. I was hoping for a snap from someone who has it actually working in their 991. I'm curious if you really get to see those red, amber, green lines (as per Google) as contrary to that article, I'm led to believe that is not the case on the PCM in 991.1's.
It should work seamlessly with TMC active and of course with an Aha App connection. Just curious if anyone has it working and what it actually looks like!

I’d be interested to know too, carmmel. My car won’t be derived for a few months and I had just presumed that Porsche had such a system when I ordered the car. It was only when reading the Total 911 article that I learned that this wasn’t the case. The system I have in my 3 year old BMW is very clear, works flawlessly and has a refresh rate measured in minutes - I have it on most of the time. I hope Porsche's system will be comparable.

I transferred my XM service from my RS7 that had traffic etc and within the PCM nav menu I have triple checked that it is supposed to be showing but it is not on in my car either. I am not seeing the green etc. Was going to recheck to make sure the subscription is still correct with the service but have not had time to dig into it more.

I believe, all that is required is a navigation software update, but to what version I do not know and would like to. Hence I'd like to see, from someone that has this, what an actual display looks like in a 991.1 and hence the version. It should be comparable, "Continuous updating....".

The announcements are out there clearly, but beyond that very little evidence that it is actually active. Simply, maybe it's not, not yet!! Having taken delivery of a September build car including the free Online Services function, RTI is not there. Hence my curiosity.

Pro tip: the tuning **** does the same thing as the +/- buttons and is much easier to use. Took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that.

The navigation feature set hasn't changed since delivery in 6/2013, though. I seem to remember it came with V4.4-something.

So how do we know when new Software Versions are available? Is there a Porsche website or do we have to rely on driver reports like this?
