Er…the PCM in the 991.1 is not real-time. It only supports the TCM messages which are not real-time. They can be anywhere between 30mins to 2hrs late.

See the attached press release from Porsche. http://www.porsche.com/usa/aboutpors...l-de&id=358304

Yes, inquiring minds want to know.

Hopefully I'll get some answers in a couple of weeks, my week old GTS is going in to be "looked at", a few niggles here and there, one being RTI. I'm beginning to think its not yet available here as my software level is 4.75. I will update if I find out anything new.

My dealer just updated mine to 4.76. It was listed as a campaign upgrade to improve XM radio stability. I didn't get a chance to play with it yet.

For European vehicles with PCM 3.1 and without live traffic (as opposed to TMC which is included as standard) the update CDs have been released.

997 044 908 70 for vehicles with online services,
997 044 908 80 for vehicles without online services.

97 044 908 70 comes on 1 disc and upgrades the PCM firmware to v4.76. Supposedly (I can't tell any difference yet) it updates the on-board nav mapping data to 08.2015 as well. Installation takes circa 30 mins - insert disc, press confirm, and don't turn off engine and disable stop/start unless using an external power supply. No PIWIS II coding or any code input is required to update firmware and nav database. The system will reboot a few times, spit a few errors (no speed limit info), then it should be ok. A full reboot, lock, unlock etc is then needed to complete the system activation.

However, online live traffic info does not show up.

The disc comes with a 25 digit code, which I suspect needs to be added via PIWIS II to implement the live traffic functionality.

Here is what my dealer had on the work order receipt and all works perfectly (added Online Services, 4.76 Upgrade, Euro Map Update, & RTT)

They installed 997.044.908.70 in my car for the euro Map update
They installed 958.044.900.28 for the 4.76 upgrade
They installed Online Services but no part number given

The Licence Key for the 3.1 Nav Europe update was 25 characters. The CD holder and information guide with the 25 digit key was only for the Map Update and not connected to the SWV or Online Services from what I can tell.

The more I think about it, why would RTT show up in North America for free? That would undercut XM and the money they make from the traffic subscription. Do you have an XM traffic subscription? It might be that after the Map update in the USA with an XM tRaffic subscription perhaps you'll see the red, yellow, and green traffic. It is amazing and shows up right away. I've been running it for some time now with Waze on my iPhone and they seem to be perfectly synched. That was not the case before RTT with just the standard, free TMC blue triangles. About 90+% of the time, Waze was better in showing traffic and adjusting routes. Only had one time returning to Stuttgart from Munich where PCM was saying get off at the next exit and take the back roads and Waze was saying stay on Autobahn 8. Cost us about a 30 minute delay. I probably missed that Waze had broken network lock even though it displays a small red message at the top of the screen.

Overall, well worth the money for the Online Services and RTT.

This info is applicable to European 991s. So 997 044 908 70 for vehicles with, and 997 044 908 80 for vehicles without, online services, only updates the firmware to 4.76. That permits the installation of (i) 08.2015 updated maps (but does not include them) and (ii) an RTTI enabling code (licence key but not enabling code included).

First the PCM must be at 4.76 using either 997 044 908 70 or 997 044 908 80 as applicable. That takes 30 mins, and is as above - insert disc and wait.

Then with a PIWIS II an enabling code must be generated using the licence key from the RTTI/4.76 update disc (unsure if an internet enabled PPN validated account PIWIS is required or just a non-live PIWIS clone).

Then connect PIWIS II to car and enter the just generated enabling code into the PCM control unit's maintenance/repairs section.

Then update nav data with 997.642.271.59 disc(s) which is a franchised OPC workshop only part so may be tricky to acquire as its not offically meant to be sold other than to an OPC. May take up to 100mins.

All in, my OPC are estimating 2.5 hrs of workshop time (most of which is the PCM updating via disc without interaction, but it takes up a service bay, so they rightly want to charge for it).
