Default Help/Adice Repairing Alloys

My wife wanted the new car today to pick up our son from school...

"No problem just please take care with my new baby" I said.

Got back from work to find the front right alloy knackered by being 'curbed'

Any advice appreciated to get them fixed?

Best UK company to use?

Thanks in advance....

I guess that in the realm of "wife wanted my car" stories, ones that end with, "and that's why the new wheels" is one of the better endings. If you spring for the Directors Cut DVD you may find the "and that one never has looked right since" Alternate Ending in the Special Features.

Learn from Hollywood. They always go with the best ending.

Sorry to hear mate.

Man, can't you look up those two crackers that star on Wheeler Dealers? It seems like they know all the hole in the wall places to refurbish everything from wheels to seats!

Look at the bright side... your wife now "owes you" so now you should be able to maker her do "that thing" she doesn't like to do. Just saying...

Afraid I don't know of anyone in particular. I had a set of expensive magnesium alloys repaired on my previous car via the dealer. They use 3rd party. Car is out of action for couple of weeks. End result was fantastic. Cost £500. All 4 wheels.

Ask your Porsche dealership. They have mobile units that come to the dealerships.

Ask Gert at Carnewal for a recommendation. He knows that market.

In the USA, this is about a $100-150 repair by a quality shop. Turnaround can be a day or 2.

That seems like a long time to get some wheels repaired. Is it because they were magnesium alloys? I've had about fix or six wheels refinished across all my sports cars (I think I got three done at once to fix several years worth of knicks) and my car was never out more than four days. This is using a standard body shop (who undoubtedly outsourced it), not a dealer.

One thing that can cut down on how long the car is out is making an appointment in advance. I'm getting my current wheels painted, which has a similar turnaround as repair. A couple weeks ago I called the local Porsche shop that I use and asked when I could bring the car in to minimize downtime. They looked at their schedule and I'm going to bring my car in tomorrow (Monday) and will have it back by the end of Wednesday because they are going to get started on it immediately.

This is in the US but I can't imagine why UK would be different.

What model is your car/wheel model?

May not be what you want to hear, but if you want a perfect replacement,......buy a new wheel. Expensive for sure and up to you. Most wheel repair companies can do a pretty good job matching the existing color/shade, but up close you can often spot the repair.

If a popular Porsche wheel, I know of a few people that have found new in box replacements on Ebay,....just make sure they are genuine Porsche wheels and not a copy.

I gotta say, if my wife made it clear to me that she didn't give a damn about my car and thought I was an idiot for being upset about damage she carelessly caused to it I would do my level best to ensure she never ever got her hands on the keys.
