Those are decals - "pasties" - in that one shot, the flash lit it up a bit more. Or could be photoshop - that'd be weird.

^ That's the Panamera coupe.
So they're lengthening the wheelbase 4" to make the back seat more comfortable? Please. I thought the 911 was a sports car. If someone needs to put people in the back seat, porsche offers the panamera.
So the new 991 will get bigger, heavier and softer. Sounds like it's a GT car now.

I can hear already those claiming that Porsche already did that in motorsports with the GT1 Le Mans racer - a 911 evolution body with a mid-engine layout. But everybody knew that the GT1 was not a 911.
The wheelbase increase is bad from my perspective.

I stand by my earlier predictions in that other thread.

i still think this looks like a hardtop convertible with a camouflage soft top over it. It could easily be a two piece top of carbon fiber or plastic to keep the weight down. Look how large the boot opening is. Much larger than the current version and no signs of cross bows. Just a thought.

I am sure when the 991 arrives, it will be faster and better.
What surprise me is that it will arrive in early 2011 instead of 2012 as I last heard. Might that explain why the current 2010 997.2 prodution is so limited, so they are clearing the production pipeline for the 991?
Regards,

"Same as it ever was"
Why would anyone ever believe a "journalist" at this stage of the car's development when all they want to do is sell a story?
You would have to believe that Porsche will ensure the 901 will handle better than the current one, will have better straight line performance, better fuel economy, and a better interior. Beyond that who cares what some snot-nosed "journalist" writes?

Releasing a 2012 model year in early 2011 would be very normal these days for the launch of a brand new design. Especially european cars. That's standard practice. I think I recall a Mercedes that launched in January of the previous year.
