My car was mint with I think 8k miles and 4 years remaining manufacturer warranty and it still took me 3 months to sell. Several buyers were not able to get financing (which was very frustrating).

When did you sell yours? Seems like you got a great price assuming it was a Premium edition.
Well, like most things it comes down to timing I guess. It was a Premium edition and I sold it in January of 2014. Still, you had your Black Edition for 18 months and lost what amounts to 7% per year; as depreciation goes not bad at all. Just ask a McLaren or Aston buyer, or an S class Mercedes owner in my case about poor value retention.

I'm just lucky to be living in a state that has that benefit, that's all. Hence why you always see me throwing out buying cars from private parties on numerous threads. No harm, no foul.

Buy yourself a home in NV (Reno or Carson City) and get a NV driver's license and you'll be set. Not having to pay sales tax takes the sting out of these 6 figure dollar car purchases, that's for sure.

I have a Vegas home. Ever get hassled about your Nevada plates?

Nope, I actually think they don't hassle me on purpose even though I have tint, no front plate, and a loud exhaust on the car with the NV plate. I also have a NV driver's license and insurance plus I'll say that I'm in town visiting my mom who I dearly love.

UK is a different animal. Porsche doesn't seem to give you guys very many cars. I'd hit that bid in a heartbeat if it were the US.

It has bitten people in the ***. Its an open not-so-secret that almost everyone writes down the sale price on a used car (of course, I would never dream of such a thing ;-)), but there are severe penalties if the DMV does decide to investigate and finds that fraud was committed.

Truly, no disrespect meant, but curious on your thinking here...
^^^ different states have different rules.. for example South Carolina has a flat rate sales tax for used vehicles....(like 375$?)

here is a list of each states sales tax laws for vehicles

http://dor.myflorida.com/dor/tips/tip12a01-01.html

^^^VERY IMPORTANT LIST TO KNOW.... also you do not need such and such state to declare residency.. only need to own a home/address there.. for example i have a home in florida, NC, ohio, kentucky, montana... so i can buy a vehicle and register it in any of those states because an active and valid address exists there.. insurance would need to be in that state and the vehicle would have to reside in that state at least XX days out of the year (depends on state)

but if you move and take said car to another state within a certain amount of time... you might be liable for double taxation depending on the state to state rules..

also after a said amount of time (180 days) you can transfer the vehicle to a state with high tax rate without paying said required taxes (depends on state again).... but this is meant for people changing residences and not getting double taxes..

if you register in a state to save tax and then resell for profit.. this DOES get monitored heavily and if repeatedly done.. they will come after you and it's a federal case.

Market will be rocked by new allocations. Add supply, prices will soften.

Depends on the number of new GT3 allocations and the number of RS. If both numbers turn out to be small then we should see some minor softening of prices. OTOH if PAG decides it needs pent up production we could see a good drop in the price of used 991GT3s. In any event we could see the markups over MSRP wane. Of course there will folks that don't care and will pay whatever.

Cars are definitely holding their value. My 2014 white with $150K MSRP with 2,000 miles trade in offer from the dealer was $135K. Which I think is pretty good. I'm sure the dealer can easily sell for $145K.

I am not surprised at all. If the rumor about 2016 allocations spread then we might see an effect on prices.
