Jaguar F type going back to Manual. Porsche is next.

I'm starting to believe that Macca's idea to form a Manual Action group wouldn't be such a bad idea. I mean, after all the article is saying Jaguar purists have been begging for a Manual and they're getting it! Where the Hell did they beg?

No begging involved. Simple market research. Jag did their homework and manual was in the program from early in planning stages. They just wanted to roll out flappy paddles first. I posted on this back in mid-July in RS thread.
Have driven a friend's F-Type S V8 convert a bunch. They're a hoot and a lot of car for the money.
The car in this vid sounds pretty damn good for a V6.

I might have missed your post or forgot...So it's not just a guess on their part by listening to how the engine sounds and shifts. Glad to hear!
I agree,it does sound very good! Maybe they didn't get the V6 part right and it's V8...?

Maybe they're going to manual because Jag engineers just couldn't get their PDK technology to be as good as their competition!....I'm not even comparing it to Porsche's GT3 PDK which is in a league of its own!

Haku, maybe my title was not the best I could've come up with...They are building an enthusiast/purist,however you want to call it,version of the F type with a Manual tranny, not dropping the automatic all together.

I started a petition thread a while back for a manual.. . .many people chimed in. . . .but probably not enough for Porsche to come to it's senses, and offer both.

Jag are hunting hard for sales. They probably identified a niche they can fill to lift their demand/sales. PAG dont have this issue with the GT3. they will sell every unit they make (and more). If you want a stick shift in a future GT car you would need to lobby for it. Not just direct to PAG/PCNZ but also above the line through global auto media to get profile. Otherwise this is a forgone conclusion and a pretty pointless discussion IMO. Id support an effort. Just my 2c worth...

In case anyone has forgotten, Porsche has 11 different 911 models available with a manual. Not to mention 3 Boxster and 3 Cayman models as well. Just sayin'.

What if Porsche offered a MT. As an option.
How much would you pay for it?
Would you pay 5k? 10k?

Fair enough to have both options but anyone that has driven the 991 (and I just got mine today) I wonder what percentage would go that direction. I mean this new transmission is just fantastic, really. Sure the physical and mental aspect of managing the left foot is not there but one might consider the challenge of managing the shifting abilities available a different but similar thing. You do have to be tuned in to make it work at it's best (or run auto sport mode and manage everything else involved in performance driving maybe better). My 2 cents. I have a beauty 05 GT3 with 3 pedals and no computer nannies I'll be listing soon if interested. It's a great car, but guess what the new one is a great car too, just different!
