Jaguar F type going back to Manual. Porsche is next.

Wow...
I only heard one gear shift and it sure sounds like a manual.
Time to head over to the jag dealer to see if I can fit..
Could it be that the choices are M3 manual with modes, Aston V8 with mods or Corvette for manual aficionados? Wifey loves PDK, but also loves jags and Astons specially if the come with a 75k discount over the RS...

Because using the PDK is not an apt comparison. PAG sells many more PDK cars than they do MT cars, and thus the company has a larger sample -- a significant one, at that -- in which to spread (and recover) it's cost of production, as well as R&D and infrastructure for service and repair (either in or out of warranty).
Not necessarily so with an MT.

I think if the market was really willing to accpet an MT option for the GT3 at close to 10k USD, I really don't see why PAG wouldn't do it.
Unless of course, PAG is just worried about optics and magazine lap times.

Not wanting to turn this thread into another Manual vs PDK thread,I'll say this : it sure seems that Jaguar is doing it and if you've watched Chris Harris on the F type you'll see why a manual version would be bonkers :

Choice for the customer are always good and should be offered, if possible.

Are you guys really comparing a Jaguar to a GT3? Seriously? Don't get me wrong, the Jag is a great looking and sounding car but I don't think that even Jaguar would say that it is a competitor to a GT3. A better comparison would be to a Carrera S and the last time I checked they were still available with a manual.

What I find weird about this model is I do not like the looks of the Convertible. I think the Coupe looks really nice and love the lines. I do not think the convertible does this car justice. On the contrary; last year I bought an Audi R8 V10 convertible because I think it looks nicer than the coupe version I do not even like convertibles and never really took the top down.

Jimmy,I'm wondering if the convertible top is just camo... If you look close enough, the car has roll bars.
Judging by the so called purist approach,Jaguar might actually be building a track version of the F type-lighter,less gizmos and a manual. Just my opinion...

Despite this, I have softened my stance over the past 18 months and now plan to DE a "vintage manual" GT3 to keep my senses alert (payback is immeasurable) , and also a "state of the art" GT3 as a "don't F with me/I am fast too" track beast...
Sometimes you just have to throw down...

Asking the question having absolutely no insight myself... What would development cost for a 'GT' manual? Assuming it would need to be improved significantly from the standard 911 7-speed (like PDK-S)? Problem with low volume cars is spreading development costs...
Assuming Development Costs of $5M (no clue what this actually is) and let say 1/2 of the cars (1,000 of 2,000?) receive the manual option, and assume PAG targets a 30% margin on their R&D? The option would cost $16,600 or so... Now since you lose 1,000 cars from PDK-S, that number goes up also, so the manual option needs to either be more $ or base price higher to account.... It's really expensive to develop specific components for these lower volume cars, and exponentially more so to develop either/or options...

F Type R with 550 hp and a manual? Less than 100k? Absolutely getting cross-shopped given the lack of options from Porsche at the moment. Softer and less efficient than a GT3, sure, but for those with a sense of humor and a fondness for a challenge and DIY shifting, it will check boxes no 991 or Cayman does at the moment:
RS for me. Something like 5k extra would feel like I'm not getting hosed too badly.
