AMG GTR 7:11 around nurburgring, Porsche better come up with something to beat it up soon.

This is why the RS can't stay NA and the 991.2 RS is the GT2RS.

I read that they'll be making as many of these cars as the market wants. If so, it occurs to me that maybe one could eventually pickup a used one at a good price, since AMGs tend to see significant depreciation.
Of course, a key question is track durability. Without that, there's just no point.

This was posted over at RT: BTW, regarding picture of the completely "shaved" Cup2 tires that CG posted some clarification is needed since conspiracy theory fans and those who did not had a chance to read the full article yet are making all kinds of assumptions.
Since ambient temperature was low-4℃ tire warmers were used. Two sets of identical Cup2s in AMG GT-R specs were used. First session lasted 6 laps and fastest time was achieved on 6th lap. Tires were completely "shaved" in the end. Second session lasted little bit less and achieved time as almost the same. This time achieved on 3rd hot lap.
So, CG did around 7 fast laps.
:Full Supertest wil be published in forthcoming issue. Acceleration and HHR time are pretty good as well.
Now, I email my P source to ask his opinion about this Sport Auto test/results... His response:"Fully legit! No single doubt about it. Ok, car is about 4s slower on regular Cup2 tires and maybe they should use them instead. AMG tuned this car suspension for various tracks in Germany, Nordschleife especially included. That is not cheating for me. But, on Spa for example it would not be that fast.
And our 991.2 GT3 RS will be faster for sure!"

Do you mean my source or his? If you're referring to me: kingjr, then i simply posted what he posted. If you're referring to the OP of my post, then I have no clue about his source, but the OP is generally pretty solid on his info. If you have an account on RT, then you can ask him about it. But the funny thing about that sentence though, is that earlier it was reported that a mule of the GT2RS was able to get around the time of the AMG, and that was in the hands of a pro, so I don't know how a regular 3RS is going to be faster. Maybe they mean at SPA?

Heres a translation of the mag's main points from GCF
Testday: 4th November (GT3-Testday)
They planned to produce the lap already and the rest of the supertest next spring, but since the lap was so surprisingly fast, they already published it.
Tires were heated before (outside temp. was 4°C).
Five fast laps before this one.
Some notes on the lap:
- Race mode, ESP off, TC on level 4, dampers in Sport Plus.
- does not feel as powerful as 488 GTB, but very easy to feel good (488 was a little bit harder to get used to)
- better aero is clearly recognizable compared to GT S
- much better steering than GT S (steering is very precise and not as nervous as GT S)
- stability very good because of new suspension and rear-wheel steering
- significantly higher grip than GT S due to suspension and new Cup 2 tires
- car conveys more confidence in slow passages than any other sportscar he drove before
- no nervousness in the fast passages like Schwedenkreuz and Kesselchen
- traction control works very subtle
- ceramic brakes work very well and ABS is very good with these tires.

AMG R is meh. Don't care for the styling. Like a sport luxury coupe inside. Heavy. Big power yes so at the Ring big power means great times. Try Watkins Glen or other shorter tighter tracks.
Depreciates faster then an anchor dropped from a second story window. Faster drop than Macs too.
