Self driving cars are for commuters and people who treat cars like appliances.

Part of the appeal of the manual transmission is that you have to work hard at it to be good...and that is my reward...a perfect heel toe downshift, that synchronized ballet between my hands and feet with steering wheel, shifter and three pedals...

Heaven help us when Porsche comes up with Porsche Select Line Optimization

I don't think Porsche would leave this much room otherwise, since it looks a little sloppy IMHO. I'm guessing the rear bumper will also be modified. If they're going to bother remake the front bumper, they will probably redo the back one too. Again, wild conjecture from me. (But it's fun to guess!!!)
Thanks mate. Alas I don't think it will be. We are likely to see at most two units officially come into our country and the distributors owner will get one (he got the only 918). In reality I'm probably more a GT3 guy than a limited edition owner or even an RS owner as any replacement for my 991 GT3 would be heavily used on the track. Downunder it's the GT3s that turn up to the track, the RS cars and LE models go straight to collectors or occasional drivers. I'm actually looking forward to getting my new G engine then my warranty ending so I can bolt on some Dunson headers, have a remap, do an aggressive alignment with my 991 GT3 and take a second or 2 off my best times at my favourite tracks :-)

It's a fascinating discussion none the less and like WTdoom said you and and Jo_ker have done some great thinking and analysis on the "leaked photos". As always the quality of work here is better by far than the Internet "news" feeds which these days are far less accurate than a Chinese whisper IMO....

Isn't all the hysteria over the R wasted breath for most since only a select few will be given an allocation?

What are the odds an average loyal Porsche enthusiast can get an R allotment?

Aren't all the Rs going to be lapped up first by all the VIP 918 boys with the ones left over bringing a new round of $100k+ ADMs?

While interesting I'd rather see PAG make it more attainable for the core enthusiast. That would make it even more interesting. No?

Smells like a 911R right before the Geneva release.

Very nice analysis Lessthan3mph! I would also like to add that the rear wheel track is much narrower than the body which seems to be a GT3 body to me, essentially running a narrow body track. Seems consistent with previous rumors of 991R running a narrow body.

Looks a lot like the techart bumper. They have a black GT3 that they mule around, good way to get some free publicity. The yellow 991 bumper shows more of the shared characteristics in yellow.

uff. the yellow one ^^ horrible.
i would bet that it is an official Porsche mule.

the morning was so exiting based on all the observations.
but i guess... karimgt3 is right.

will the 911R get a wing or ducktail or only diffusor?
(if ducktail or only diffusor; the GT3-wing on the mule is just for substitution and confusion which worked out with me )

Lol! Absolutely nothing! It certainly seems sometimes that not even Porsche execs know the answer to that question. PTS is pure luck IMO,the right order at the right time kind of deal...

IMO, this is definitely a factory mule. But I doubt it is a 911R...development should have been finished long ago...this looks too cobbled together for a car that is already done. The narrow offset and/or width of the rears tells me this is not a performance test bed; my guess is they are playing with the front end for another model...GT2 perhaps...but could be anything.

Zero chance of mortals getting an 991R. VIPs will buy them all up and the ones that aren't bubble wrapped will be flipped for $100k+ over MSRP.
