Looking at buying a 968
Found a 968 that I am interested in. I've owned a lot of classic cars over the years, mostly VW. My wife wants a stick shift, and likes the looks of the 968 coupe. Not sure what a good price for one would be. It is a '95 with 117k. The owner wants close to 15k for it. Seems to be in real good condition. What are the issues I should be looking for?
This would be my 1st Porsche. Thanks for any input.

Hi Bill,
Well, the stack of maintenance records is obvious. You'll want to see a timing/balance belt replacement within the last 4 years. Then the usual stuff. Check the clutch, tires, brakes. Look at the carfax, look for paintwork, accident history. Check that the sunroof works, A/C, no warning lights. Run through the accessories.
If you are interested in how the car compares production-wise post the last 3 of the VIN and I'll look it up for you.
These are great and rare cars. You won't be disappointed.

Check vin.
Jeff,
213 are the last three digits of the VIN
Let me know if there is anything else I need to know about these cars.
Much appreciated.
Bill
Jeff,
I found this one and was wondering if you could check the vin.
Last three is 755
Thanks, Bill

Bill,
If the car is well sorted and presents nice then that is a good number. I checked coupe SS820213. 1 of 547 Guards red coupes, 1 of 313 paired with a black interior. 2 factory options: Partial leather and a full 8 way power drivers seat.
Good luck,
Jeff

Body seals
Engine gaskets/seals etc
Brakes/brake lines
Suspension components
Not trying to scare you but it's better to be prepared. With a used car, you can always expect some hidden expenses.
