Default Jeff and Greg buy a project 968

So, I’m randomly looking through eBay yesterday and stumble on to a 968 listed under parts. It was hit in the left rear. I start to give it a more thorough look when, OMG, that interior. It looks too good to be someone’s modified interior. I check the VIN and sure enough, this is a rare beast! It is a 1992 968 coupe in grand prix white but what makes it so special and rare is the interior. It is equipped with the very limited special full leather interior in matador red. Not a single cab came with this interior and only 2 coupes had it. In addition, the car has 17” cup1s as a factory option. I contact the seller, a nice guy, and we work out an agreed upon price of $3k. So Greg and I won it!!

What will I do with it? I hope I can fix it. It runs and drives. No damage in the roof and the hatch opens and closes. I have bodywork experience so I’m hoping a good pull and a quarter panel replacement and she would be back. It would be sad to see such a rare car die. I hope I can save it. If not, it will be a fantastic parts car.

Now, to get it shipped to CT from CO. Anyone recommend a shipper?

Here's the link to the auction:

Jeff scores! Nice find! I'm sure you can make it look new again and have a great addition to your stable. Congratilations!

Jeff, I had a 951 shipped using the following, great communications, service, and price.

Passage Auto Transport to ship your vehicle(s)! Here is some information on your upcoming transport. If you have any questions feel free to call 844-332-7020 or your transport specialist at (561) 808-5069.

The guy I spoke with was named Armani.

Hope you can save it, if not can I call dibs on the interior? That would look amazing in my white 951.

Ha! Jeff would never part with a 1 of 2 interior even if he didn't have a car for it... 😄

that's all I need! I've done quarter replacement on other cars, never a Porsche. I already have a mig welder.

Love that interior!

Still available - only $830.13 from Sonnen (plus shipping).

Probably 3 weeks or so.

Thanks, I'll probably go used as these things never rust and I need a few other surrounding parts.

Default Rebuilds

I'm thinking that having a rebuild project in the garage is the new chic!
(at least Jeff, Raj, and Jay will agree with me)

I think that for all Jeff does for us and our cars everyone should donate whatever parts they have and are not using to the "Matador". I have a rear bumper cover and L/R taillight. Cost=free plus shipping.

I should be done with the red car just in time. By then the turbo will be back from the restoration shop. That will be my most involved project ever for me. I have plenty of pics accumulated but will wait till I get her back.
