Default Momo Mod 07 on 92 C2 (USA) Question

Will it fit? I have a C2 with air bag from the US. I recently purchased "Mod 7 Steering wheel from FVD part number FVD 347 100 12. I also got the hub and electronic component to deal with the air bag light. When the wheel arrived I noticed there were no markings on the wheel or packaging identifying it as momo. I went back to the FVD website and noticed that the description on the part also doesn't say momo either. But there is another wheel part number FVD 347 086 that says momo in the description and on the wheel; this is the wheel I wanted.

I called FVD and was told that the 086 will not work on my car since the 964 hub will not work with this wheel. Apparently the wheel I have which looks identical to the actual momo one is made in the same factor for a company called Ativa (I could have that name wrong). But is made to fit with 964 hub. I could go with the GT2 wheel but its suede and I wanted leather.

Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone has had the same experience. I thought I saw the momo wheel on a 964 here in the US.

Thanks.

The Momo Mod 07 does work on the 964, there are many folks are using it on this forum. The steering wheel itself has no bearing on fitment, you just have to get the right adapter which is Momo Hub #7004. After that, any steering wheel with a 6 hole pattern will bolt right up to the hub.

Thats what I thought. I really dont understand and not sure what to do. FVD is usually bang on. Here is the FVD link.

http://www.fvd.de/us/en/Porsche-0/-1...ng_Wheels.html

You will notice the first wheel is called MOMO Mod 07. If you scroll a bit further down you will see another wheel called "Steering Wheel Mod 7". FVD is saying this is the only "mod 07" (which is not MOMO) that will fit with the 964 Hub with airbag delete.

Anyone who has done this mode please help.

From FVD? I had a lengthy discussion *****; Rhonda is out of town. If you bought it from them and have the part numbers of what you ordered that would be great. I'm waiting to call Momo USA in California to here what they have to say. Thanks.

You are going through the same things I was going through. You need one of these :

Steering wheel contact - p/n: 96465210400

Yeah, FVD.

They're pretty easy to install. I have a 89, so I didn't have an airbag to deal with.

Horn is pretty easy to wire. One wire in the momo hub goes to horn, other wire from horn to ground.

You may or may not have to replace your horn contact. I didn't. My original worked fine.

Use an impact wrench to get the nut loose in the original wheel. Will save you some time.

Spoke to FVD at length. The momo hub horn contact wont match up on the 92; I'm told only up to 89. I guess when the added the air bag it changed a few things. Its Seem some people are bending the contact etc to make it work but this all seems rather problematic. I may stay with the Mod 7 wheel I bought which is sold by FVD made int the same factory and identical in every way less the momo name on the wheel. I ordered the porsche horn piece so it should be plug and play without issue. Thanks for the info.

I followed this DIY when I installed a Mod .07 wheel on my RSA years ago: https://rennlist.com/forums/964-1989...made-easy.html

The horn contact worked fine.

I saw this thread. The sanding part of the instructions scared me off from trying it. I'm not that handy. Thank you though.

That part was actually super easy. Can't mess it up. I used a .5L water bottle and wrapped 100grit sandpaper around it, it was perfect. Sand some, test fit, sand some more, repeat. Did it one evening before driving to Watkins Glen for a DE. I remember it like it was yesterday and it must've been 7-8 years ago...

Will be doing it again at some point soon on the new 964... Already bought all the parts.

Big Al - Did you ever get your horn to work? I'm having the same issue (90 with airbag).

I "think" I have to do something like is described here: https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...ng-photos.html

If not can someone correct me.
