Porsche Forum Australia visit...
Yah. It's been quiet. My daily, a JCW Mini (R56) had a cracked thermostat housing, and then right after that, a damaged water pump. So the 964 has been on daily-duties for the last three weeks. I'm an IT consultant, so not always ideal turning up at a customer's site in a Porsche... Happy to have the mini back!
We had a bunch of the local forum guys (from http://porscheforum.com.au/) come through Canberra last weekend, though, which was decent fun. Got a few shots here:
(Yes...that's a GT2RS...)

Rennsport Reunion 2016 is on at Sydney Motorsport Park at the end of the month. Hotel and Show n' Shine spot booked. I gave the car a bit of a polish and have been laying on the Klasse sealant in anticipation...white cars are super un-rewarding to polish!
Coming up...
- It's valve adjust time. So I'm going for a major service and have been slowly stockpiling parts...Prob happening in the next month or so.

White is an unrewarding colour to polish. Tomorrow we are doing aGoPro and drone shoot with 2 964s and a 3.2. I couldn't be bothered polishing my car for it.
Looking forward to Rennsport. Three of us are crossing the ditch to spend the weekend there.
How are you looking to adjust the valves? Feeler gauge or Kirk tool?

So! Rennsport. Was a great weekend. Also got to meet John McM!! Excellent to maintain trans-tasman relations!
This car is the third RHD 911 ever made....the guy ordered a 901, and a 911 arrived...
For the Americans, check out the BS prices we have to pay for a plain-jane carrerra...
A REAL RHD 964 3.8 RSR!

Good to meet you Tiaan and see a whole lot of Aussie 964s. I went back to Suite 5 on the Sunday but didn't see you. I couldn't work out who JV911 was either but had another look at his car.
Overall a great weekend. Lots of eye candy and much of it being used on the track. We have looked at the cost of bringing out cars over but it looks prohibitive, like your car prices!

Hey mate, great to meet you at Rennsport. Amazing weekend, can only imagine what the US version is like. Good selection of photos above, but aren't you missing one with a wheel and your new long-haired best mate?

Finally got the first major (20,000km) service since the top-end rebuild done yesterday. We had ambitious plans, so didn't get everything completed that we wanted, but we still got the following done:
Valve Adjustment (plus we put those lovely Rennline billet valve covers on!)
ISV Clean
Fuel, Oil, Air filters
Distributor cap and rotor replacement
New belts on fan and air-con
Spark plugs
Decent clean of the engine and 'bits'
Rear brake-pad change
Oil change - I've gone back to mineral (Penrite 20W-60)
Ate Jame's freddo frogs...
Am happy we did this 'engine out' - made everything so much easier. It was nice doing it in a proper shop, having access to a hoist, compressed air, oil-stands etc...I ran out of time to clean up that dirty engine fan, mainly because we determined the bearing and alternator were fine and didn't require replacing.
She runs a bit smoother now. It's still a constant battle with leaks, we found a new weep on the crank-case ventilation an didn't have the gaskets to deal with that, so we tightened up and will deal with it next time...
Yes, we zip-tied those CV joints up while we were working!
Lovely billet valve cover...but that engine tin is letting the team down! Also, whenever I look at the exhaust, I dream of a stainless steel set up...so much cleaner!
There's still a few projects in the pipeline over the next 12 months:
Install wing computer (yes! I still haven't done that)
Repair leaky air-con and repatriate OEM hose onto the compressor
Engine-out detail. General clean-up, Powder-coat the engine tin, replace or powder-coat the engine fan and housing, steam-clean everything. Thinking of replacing the bushings in the gearbox mounts as well.
