Hi guys,

Just noticed in the pics you all have towing eyes fitted. Is that a requirement and if so do you need two?

because I'm pretty sure I only have one in the boot.

Just the one needed. I put mine in the front because 911s usually go into the kitty backwards.

Just to make sure we don't have a repeat of the tyres panic I had before Spa, I've sorted out some new sticky rubber plenty in advance this time.

Federal 595RSR 225/45/17 and255/40/17 meet Frank's old Cup 1 reps.

Being the bluff oldtraditionalist that I am, I hate to say it but much prefer the cup1s to the d90s. They'll have to pry the flags out of my cold dead hands though. . . well maybe

Your car looks great! Did it originally come with D-90's? If so did you have to fit steering stops when you went to the Cup I's? If not is there any rubbing of the wider tires? Also, did you notice if your car sits lower on the Cup I's? (From what I can tell the Cup I's bring the total circumfrence down by half an inch or so.

It did indeed, the tyre calculator i use shows the 225/45/17 as 295mm vs 205/55/16 as 291mm static radius. So, pretty close just a little larger if anything.

The car clearly had 17s or large at some point in its history as it has a flattened oil line and the modified front arch liner. I'm not sure if it also had the lock stops fitted and the same time, prolly not tbh as there are some old scars on the inner arch, not too worried, not like to use full lock on the track and I can live with little rub when parking.

I've just done an installation run around the locale and no rubbing evident anywhere and plenty of clearance on the rear oil line. The 595 RSR come out enormous, the 255 rears are actually 275 wide unmounted!

Smile Aero Mirrors?

Frank, you should be ashamed to throw a craving of aero parts on Alex....he is already starting down that slippery slope and you are really just trying to push him over the edge...

Steve,

Fitted the Hawk pads on the weekend, and apart from one (which needed a bit of a trim) they slotted in nicely (that in itself is a big improvement over the EBCs).

The EBCs I had fitted for Spa had plenty of life left in them, so the comparison at Donington will be interesting......provided I bed them in properly!

Will also get my 888's fitted to my Cups this week!

Good to hear Grant. They actually don't take much bedding in, in my experience. I think you're going to be very impressed when you try them out in anger.

I too spent a day this weekend on the brakes. New Hawks in the rear as they were just below half worn and full system bleed so that everything is tickety boo for the big day.
