I agree with the comments about the dealership. You want this job done by someone who has done one in the last 12 months. A good indy or suitable local Rennlister will beat the dealership for experience and result.

This is one of those jobs that seems intimidating but isn't that bad. Especially if you by the right tools. Pin wrench, flywheel lock, good set of regular tools. But this is how you justify tool purchases.

That water pump alone (Geba) is 320 from Paragon. Their timing belt kit is another 220. Zims is much cheaper but they don't mention the brand of the water pump. And maybe that doesn't matter. Maybe they're all exactly the same. But I don't think ECS is way off on those prices compared to the other vendors.

+ 1 for Paragon Jason is top notch. I'm in the process of pretty much replacing everything I ordered $1500 in parts from them and had an issue. He took care of it right away.

Get a ZIMS rebuilt pump...they are available again and are the best in the business.

I fail to understand why you need a flywheel lock to change the timingbelt i have one and only used it to loosen+tighten the crankbolt something you dont do when changing belts. Anyways i have a arnnworx maxi kit "tools" and the spanners alone is well worth the money to me.

I feel a lot more comfortable doing a belt change knowing that the crank is locked to a consistent TDC. The sight-window can be a bit open to interpretation and I hate trying to find it more than once.
Then I only have to worry about camshaft position and making sure it's lined up...then two more times for balance shafts.

I would agree on the mileage, provided the time between belt changes is not too long. My last belt change was at ~ 33K miles, but it had been 11 years... and my cam belt had a full width crack and could have broken at any time. Not sure what a reasonable max time between changes is but I would think 4-5 years?
