Very cool, i put a new shift lever on my car about a year ago but still have some play, likely the shift rod is worn out.

I have a short shift linkage that is about a decade old from the long gone 944Racing.com . This thing has been on two different cars and well over 40k miles on it. Still going strong, but i like to try new things so ill give the heim joint setup a try also.

Now if only my car had an engine in it..

I have xchops short shifter, mcmaster-carr upgrade to the shifter pin, and mcmaster-carr heims and threaded rods for the trans linkage. Not a mm of slop anyhere, beautiful solid mechanical feel throughout.

This shifter arm and the Stuttgart shift block would solve mostly any linkage problem I would think.

I did my own fix on the shifter arm [this part wasn't available] and added the stuttgart block and it's very nice now. I'm the envy off my local group of owners.....

I think I'll be doing the heim jointed trans linkage in the near future. The Only944 shifter removed almost all of the slop, but there's still a bit side to side. I'd like it all gone.

question for those who've done it, and this might be really obvious if I looked at the linkage, but It's been years since I looked at the top of a 944 transaxle, but did you re-use the factory hardware to attach the heim-jointed linkage, or did you have to replace it? If so, what did you use? TIA!

I picked up one of these a few months back. It makes shifting MUCH more enjoyable in these cars. Huge improvement....great price.

Neat idea. I will have to do that when the weather gets warm.

What seems like a good idea with that setup is after everything is centered well..some loc-tite..
