Everyone should check your email confirmation for the dates, mine did not include Thursday even though I asked for it. When I went online Thursday was sold so I called reservations and bitched till they gave it to me

Hans, Will you and/or the Indiana contingency be coming through Columbus, OH ?? If so, what date? I'm planning to depart on Friday, the 23rd, in the a.m. It's about 6 or 7 hours from Columbus. We should caravan out with some other enthusiasts

Saturday Frenzy Agenda
The Saturday agenda will look something like this:
9:30a Frenzy registration and Breakfast at Franklin Park in Purcellville, VA
11:00a: Tech Session followed by lunch and door prize giveaway
3:00p: Fun Run to Lovettsville Oktoberfest
Franklin Park will be a nice, family-frendly location for Frenzy to take place. So, feel free bring your kids if you've got them. No, the pool won't be open that late in the season, but there is a playground a few minutes walk from our parking area.
We will be strategically positioned very close to Fun Run territory. So, this year's Fun Run is likely to be longer and pretty awesome.
A couple dozen Frenzy participants visited the Oktoberfest a couple of years ago, and everyone that went really enjoyed it. So, I'm hoping this is going to be an amazing Frenzy this year!

Is everybody staying at the same hotel as last year? Seems like a long way away from Franklin Park?

Greg asked me to look into finding a location farther west to eliminate the long drive in traffic just to get to where the FUN in the Fun Run starts, and find a location with rain shelter for 75-100. Franklin Park is IN the Fun Run area that folks enjoyed last year and we have a large pavilion with tables adjacent to a large parking area.
We looked at several hotels in the Leesburg area. None offered group rates under about $115. The reason is the Middleburg horse show is the same weekend and ALL hotels will sell out in Leesburg. None of the hotels had a restaurant/bar inside (What would folks do on Thursday and Friday night?). My gut was very concerned that horse loving guests, Leesburg Police, and the hotel management would not tolerate a fast cooler and libations in the parking lot after dark. At some point I told Greg I think many folks come to Frenzy looking forward to Friday night in the hotel bar and Saturday evening in the parking lot with people they haven't seen for a year. The Holiday Inn is in an industrial area and the meat people won't complain (does anyone think it's a coincidence that they always share the hotel with us?). I felt from the beginning that a Frenzy without the cooler and revelry in the parking lot would be a disappointment - it's become a tradition. Poor Beerfish...we'll never see his awesome 928 again...the cooler doesn't fit in it.
The drive to Franklin Park at 9:00-9:30 takes about 25 minutes - straight west on Rt. 7. Actually, the total driving distance remains about the same as last year - we're just being more efficient and tactical about when we are on the roads, and breaking it up into chunks so that 100% of the Fun Run is FUN!

So the Saturday main venue this year has changed from the detail shop and is now at a park 30 min from the hotel?
I didn't realize this, you must also remember not everyone goes on the fun run. Thus some may be a bit disappointed at the hour total of drive time to and from the hotel to the park.
Just my .2cents

I expect that most attendees will want to do the Fun Run. Those that don't can just head directly to the Oktoberfest since that will be our hangout place for the rest of Saturday.

I've spent a good amount of time scouting for a new site and new hotel, but keeping people happy is #1 priority. Or, stated another way - feeling any sense of disappointment directed at me is not how I want to experience Frenzy. I'd rather stand in the rain.
