Default Worn GT Cams - Can they be fixed?

Have a set of GT cams from a 250k mile car. The lobes are worn to the minimum specs.

Can these be fixed?

Suppose WEB-Cam can regrind the lobes if not worn too much. Think they have masters for most stock 928 profiles.

Most sets of GT cams that I have seen are worn and pitted. Why I have no idea - that applied to both low mile and high mile.

Roger.. that. I attribute to less than optimal maintenance and the high miles.

Worst case scenario - $2500. I need to see if all the lobes need to be welded.

can webcams take care of my missing tooth GT cams ??? (the original Holbert cams?)
after seeing andersons and Fans cams with bolt on gears it made me think that something might be possible. plus there is a 944 cam guy from canada that has been doing that modification and repair for many years with no issues.

Mark, do you have a picture of the stamped numbers on the (rear) ends of the Holbert cams? Would be interested to know what the two digit numbers are.

I have been meaning to take the exhaust cams from the Zombie out to have 1 tooth fixed on each of them, Webcams quoted $275 a cam to do it last fall but I haven't managed to get out there. Greg was dubious that it would be a lasting repair but otherwise they're bricks.

Is there a viable coating that can protect the lobes?

.....DLC the lifters. Cam lobes look like they've been polished, after a few miles.

Calling Rob Edwards for a picture....

I have a set of S3 Elgin/Jim Morton cams, with chipped teeth from shipping. Roger searched for some for me and we both when they arrived damaged. They are perfect and unused, but at the moment they are nothing more than wall art. I will never throw them out ... but I will also never give up on trying to find a way to fix them.

I have spoken to the best race cam guys here in Australia, and they all tell me that welding would not be a lasting or reliable repair on such a fragile projection, no matter how well it was done or heat treated. One company I spoke to (https://www.harrop.com.au/), who I've dealt with for over 40 years, and make engineering masterpieces, share GB's view.

This is also why I've shown interest in bolt on sprockets .... but the limiting factor, is that the fitment would be pointless if the profile has to be destroyed, to get the sprocket on. Ake's sprocket seems the best, with its standard tooth count, but the cam lobes have to be rebuilt ... which doesn't make sense for a tooth only repair.

Who is the 944 cam guy Mark? Link?
