Default I have an opportunity to buy 1987 CS

I have been offered a documented 1987 928 CS in serious need of restoration. It currently resides in Germany.

It is a mess. I am wondering what it might be worth in the states after a full restoration.

Any ideas?

I thought all CS cars were RHD. Did I just dream that? Yes, I did because no they're not. And yes that car is a mess.

I guess if you get it for the right price, it could be a diamond in the rough. the front seats don't look too bad from the pictures.

Good Luck if you decide to go through with it.

It would probably be the only CS in the States so that alone makes the value good.
Makes me want to cry just looking at the way that spectacular car has been mistreated.

I thought Samuel had mentioned in the past that there may be (are? were?) 2 CS's in the U.S.:

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...ts-in-u-s.html

No matter the condition that car deserves to be saved, and the perp should be beaten with that radiator hose.

Value? I'll make one up: $50K. Are all the CS-specific parts there? DR used to have a NOS fender decal but I think he's sold it.

Do it before Rog does LOL.....

1 of 16ish I think... Wasn't one recently offered for like $45K euros?... Not bad if you can bring it back to life...

BTW...this is probably the best series of 928's made followed by the 89GT....the rest are just "common"

Fully restored $50 to $75k - low because of the high mileage.
Ask Samuel in France as he is the CS expert or Erkka.

I would not sell my SE for $75k and the CS is even more special.

Tom you forgot the 42 SE's (CS cars) made for the UK market and then the 89GT.

The EZK is not a CS EZK as that was 928 613 123 14 and 13 is the common EZK

OK...I'll give you the SE's.....even though they have the steering on the wrong side LOL...

(actually the SE's are pretty cool...might just have to go find one of them one of these days)....

Sure looks like basket case... someone messed with it significantly and not really very well it seems....

I'd be worried about what they removed/swapped out... Does it come with a pile of additional parts?

Huge amount of work to bring it back - important that all the right stuff still be there for value out of the deal.

I suspect that there are easier ways to make money. There may not be to get one for yourself though.

OK so could be 2 or 4 here in the States - they appear to be well kept secrets all of them. I will believe when I see one.

Kevin certainly looks like a CS and if you have the documentation to prove it all's good.

So..what parts are unique in the CS...

engine block
A/C unit (smaller)
interior had cloth stripes (mostly)
transmission was a G28/55
rims were CS 8" and 9"
sticker on the fenders
no sunroof
most of the other stuff was shared with the S4/GTs?

I would say if the block and trans are useable (original) you could bring it back to near original condition with other parts and still call it a CS (esp if the VIN is a CS vin)...

Talk to Garrity/Lomas in SLC Motorsports 928.....Dave L had mentioned to me many moons ago that he knew where one of the US ones were..

Also... is the original color of this CS red?
