Post VIDEO: Porsche 928 fuel tank, sender and soft lines refurbishing

Hi, I have just published a video of my 928 fuel tank removal, cleaning and reinstall, including making the fuel sender unit coming back to life. I did it some time ago, but it's hard to find some time to edit them. I have many more videos with other works on the car (I always try to record something) but I have to find some free time to keep publishing. Hope you find them useful. As I comment in the video, the intention is not a step by step tutorial, just what I thought that could help other people approach similar tasks seeing things before getting their hands dirty.

It's my way of thanking back to rennlist for their help on every project (starting by Dave928S and Dwayne and all the people here that helped me make this baby run again). Uploaded here:

Hey guys, as you liked the fuel tank video maybe you are interested in this one too. Here is a link to my front suspension work. Hope you like it and that it could be useful for some of you too.

This video is very helpful, thank you for taking the time to make it and share it.
It is kinda spooky though because I also wanted to clean out the screen and the fuel level sensor of my '78 only to find out that there was nothing to clean. Everything. Was nice and shiny on the inside of the tank. Regretted taking it apart. There was not a single grain of sand to be found. And obviously the tank was not taken out of the car for a very long time, if ever.
The quality of the petrol can't be that different from country to counyry? I live in the Netherlands

You are welcome Ad0911, thanks. You are probably right. As I comment in the video I have clogged two fuel pumps in some months, if not three (the pump already in the car was not functioning), so probably my car was in a very abandoned condition.

I think that it is mostly a 'not drove' car in long periods of time problem, more than the quality of the fuel petrol, but the only thing I know is that the previous owner have it stopped for the last 3 years before I get it. I'm sure fuel in Spain is very similar (if not the same) as the one in Netherlands. Probably same companies, BP, Galp, Shell...

The solidified drops at the fuel sender seem to me as an unmoved liquid for years problem. Not sure in any case.

Probably the way to go is... if the behaviour of your fuel needle and reserve light is correct and your fuel pump flows without hassle, stay away for taking out your fuel tank because it could be cristal clear in there, even being a '78 car

Dear Joaquin,
One thing puzzled me. You have made a new triangular metal bracket that you have glued in the slot where the original one was. I have my tank out now and I don'trecall having this bracket at all. Could you plesse send a picture of the place where he racket is mounted? Perhaps it is different fom my car but Ijustwant to be sure I don't miss anything when putting in the tank again.
