Default Service/Repair: Merlin's ministrations

So, I wanted to post a note, anyone that has followed or stumbled upon some of Mr.Merlin's posts, or his restoration threads, probably has a good idea about his degree of the depth of his knowledge working on 928s.

I had run into a bit of a roadblock replacing front shocks- that being a mental roadblock and a practical one, I'm not technically allowed to do mechanical work in the parking lot of my so-called residence.... Stan agreed to assist. His expertise made the job go much more smoothly, he's patient and most importantly he takes the time to think through the little impediments that can crop up, rather than reaching for the nearest force-transfer device... He let me lend a hand when that made sense and led the charge with the more technical aspects. He offered his time at a great value, and I think our community will only benefit from more folks that are willing to share their experience, knowledge, tools, work areas.

Stan is a stand up guy and always ready to help with a hand or a joke. On a road trip a few years back about a year after I bought my S4 I made arrangements via Rennlist to meet him in Denver where he was living. We had never had any communication other than here on the board. On the trip I developed a hard start problem that he immediately diagnosed as a blown fuel pressure regulator. After we had supper at a local restaurant he directed me to come back to his place where we installed a good used regulator from his spares box. That was my introduction into the world of 928 owners and ownership. I have attempted in my own meager way to pay Stan's kindness forward to other owners ever since and have been richly rewarded for it. If you follow his example you too will be blessed with many happy miles.

Someone on the Frenzy thread mention Hazy Av museum, I imagine that you've BTDT, but if not it's pretty much a must-see.

Related:
As a "new happy owner" of one of Stan's previous cars, I can attest to what a pleasure it is to work on a car that he has worked on in the past. I know that anything he has touched has been done right: The bolts are torqued properly, the wiring is sound, the parts are correct, etc.
No surprises, just good, solid workmanship.

From what I've experience personally with Stan, everything you said about him does not surprise me at all. He's one of my top 928 experts here, that I would never hesitate to go to for knowledge and advice. Philly is much closer than CO to us in Pittsburgh, but just not close enough.

Stan is always willing to assist, especially if there is a use for DeOxit in the solution.

Yes I must admit it has now become time to use the Deoxit as a repair method ,
even garage kept cars are now being affected by corrosion.
The Deoxit does work really well, its Magic

Being new to 928 ownership and also with a even older 914 in the stable, I've just ordered my Deoxit starter set, primarily from reading Stan's posts about it's magic elixer properties.

Hoping to not frequently need MrMerlin, DrBob, Sean, etc, but certainly you guys and many others are out there and so willing to help us less experienced but eager to learn newbies.
