Just got linked to this posting by another member.

Not one person who has my shifter in there car has popping out of gear issues.
Looking at the design of the shifter there is no way for that to happen.
If you had sloppy engine mounts that allowed excessive rocking of the engine you may put a small side thrust on due to the range limits of the side to side motion. But to say it can pop out of gear is over the top.

Most already know this but Greg slanders me any chance he can get because he made a product that doesn't work (any better than factory) and I found it. So take everything he says with a grain of salt.

On the subject of popping out of gear, the only causes are either not full engagement into gear which is normally linkage or detents, or worn dog teeth/selector rings, which are more common to pop out under decel.

For the record, I have a stock setup. For the rest, I am playing like Sweden on this...

Also, the problem has gone away. I'm guessing while it was on the rack for a couple of weeks something happened with the linkage?!?!?!? who knows...it's working now...

I don't slander you.....as a matter of fact.....

I think your shifter design is absolutely amazing....for people that rebuild transmissions!

Let me explain this....really slow....so perhaps you can understand it:

Porsche mounted the shifter on the torque tube to allow it to move along with the entire drivetrain....whenever the engine and transmission move fore and aft...which they do every single time anyone accelerates and de-accelerates (They are mounted in rubber....in case you haven't worked on enough of these cars to notice.) By doing this, there is no load applied by the shifter on the shifting forks and sliders, inside the transmission.....BECAUSE THE SHIFTER MOVES WITH THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY!!!!!!!!!

Your "design" mounts the shifter solidly to the chassis....so that every single time the engine and transmission moves back and forth....there is fore and aft movement on the internal forks and sliders.

IT'S THE ONLY THING THAT CAN HAPPEN, WHEN THE ACTUAL SHIFTER IS ATTACHED TO THE CHASSIS.....AND THE ENGINE AND TRANSMSSION MOVE FORE AND AFT.

Certainly, even you should be smart enough to see the problem with this design?

The shift forks putting load on the sliders every time the engine and transmission move fore and aft is nothing more than a "portable lathe"!

Redesign it so the shifter mounts to the torque tube and you've got a semi-viable product.

Right now, all you are doing is ruining internal transmission pieces.[/COLOR]

don't forget the slider detent misalignment. that was my issue with poping out of gear in 2nd with no load. I changed the position of the shift fork to align those detents perfectly. (for 2nd, neutral and 3rd). the spring loaded button-rod, keeps the gear shifter in those positions. this is only possible if the shift forks have moved or they were not set up correctly on a rebuild.
