Notes on pending (and some implemented) changes to the diagram sets. I will update just this post with the latest details,
please check here against any anomalies you find. I will identify when this post has been updated significantly with a new
post linking this (#94).
(X = Already integrated into published diagrams)
Base Diagrams:
==============
1977-1979:
X Added Fuse in/out label detail next to diagram fuse row
X Added labels to Relays, Fuses & Plugs
X Changed from Blue to Green borders for interchangeable relays
X Darker Grey fill for unused relays
Add CE Panel Part#
Add note on Relay socket terminal ID - orientation on panel varies from 0 to 90 degrees clockwise/counter-clockwise
Add note on Relay sockets VIII & XVIII - these use wider 30/87 terminals (VIII never used) - In: 1977-1980w/
Unused Fuses have grey fill & crossout indication (Vs. "-") - to better match unused relays
Fuses now use darker Red & Blue to better match actual (typical) fuse body colors
I am changing terminology for correctness: I will now use 'Panel Connectors' & 'Loom Connectors'
Unused panel connectors have grey crossout indication - to better match unused relays/fuses

Partially panel connectors will have a loom connector plug with open terminal slots (many are like this)
Every year has a large number of individual unused terminals (between unused and partially used panel connectors)

Diagram naming for Relays and descriptions for Fuses
Another note:
Some have identified that I use different descriptions for fuse & relays. This is certainly true for all years and quite deliberate.
The reasons are:
1) Brevity - these need to fit in limited space - so must be more concise
- In a list of Relays there is little point in adding 'Relay' to a description as other sites do (Porsche did this is early diagrams)
- Ditto fuses
- If a shorter name is clear - I will use it
- In a list of similar items I simplify : e.g. of lighting (I will say 'lights' only once)
2) Consistency - I want changes YTY to be clear - if the function didn't change the name shouldn't
- Porsche changed names of the same functional item over the years for some strange reason
3) Clarity - Name of relays should map logically to their functions
- Porsche sometimes used meaningless names
- Porsche occasionally actually used misleading names
What is the result of this? You will see differences, my names will mostly be shorter, but similar, generally easy to match to the original. In a few case I depart because Porsche was just too missleading...
Don't flag all these to me - only flag the ones where the difference seems relevant/material.
If you can identify the CE panel # installed (embossed on the face at the top) that would also be helpful - I will publish this on the final diagrams.
A note here - It seems the wiring diagrams don't really relate to a model year (despire their labelling)- they actually relate to a specific CE panel ID (be nice if Porsche listed that ID) - now this usually does map directly to a single model year BUT NOT ALWAYS.
Eventually I will publish the panel ID that each diagram relates to on the diagram - this way you can be certain you are looking at the right diagram for what is installed in your car. I'm thinking as a result that I will certainly need two 1983 diagrams (for USA) to clarify this. I still need to do some checking on some 1978 & 1980 anomalies and on some possible 1993 and 1994 mid-year changes.

Alan,
Am systematically working thru 84 diagram.
One immediate change needed though --- USA & Euro 84 --- Fuse position #19 --- Headlight motor
This fuse needs to be changed to 16A (initial draft of new diagram shows 25A)
Source --- WSM wiring diags, both Euro & USA Central Electrics pages.
Also --- Relay position XI This is anitlock for 84 cars. My Euro has this position filled because it has antilock brakes. It is empty for my USA 84 which does not have optional antilock. (initial draft of new diagram shows "unused")
Same source as above, plus, visual of my Euro 84 CE box.

My previous post referenced the part # of the CE panel diagram that's attached to the wood panel cover.

No it should be in the format:
928.610.105.xx probably 928.610.105.22 for a '91
Look further to the right under the other mounting screw.
Nice that you still have the fuse puller there - most seem to dissapear even though they have a nice little 'home'.
Fill up the spare fuse slots for future convenience too...
