I'm presenting here improved single page summaries for fuse and relays across all years USA 928's (with perhaps more for ROW later - if I can get sufficient info on this).

These are copyrighted materials - free to use non-commercially as long as the copyright is preserved. Its much too much work to give it up without ownership. I will also be delivering this for publication by our vendors as a service for owners - certainly to Mark @ 928 International, and to Roger @ 928sRus.

I previously posted some examples of each type (new/old panels) for comments and got some good feedback (may need more).

I envisage the following structure:

Early Panels [34 fuses, 20/21 relays, 25 (8 pin) plugs]: 1977-1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984

Later Panels [45 fuses, 24 relays, 22 (10 pin) plugs]: 1985, 1986, 1987-1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992-1995

This represents more unique diagrams than are shown elsewhere - because there are some notable differences between all these years.

FUSES:
I have added more visual cues for fuse positions & rating (inc common body color code). I've also added orientation cues for fuse in/out and fuse input bus details - e.g. what power sources feed the fuses. Battery bus (30) connections (red) are always live, Ignition bus (15) connections (black) are live with ignition switch in position 2&3 (of 0-3), and the Accessory bus (X) connections (yellow) are live with ignition switch in positions 1-2 (of 0-3). These busses plus (50) the starter output of the ignition switch (3 of 0-3) are shown across the top of every diagram of the current flow type (1977-1983). The other uncoded (background green color) fuses are none of these, they may be fed by relays, switches or other equipment. They may be live only under certain functional conditions (varies).

RELAYS:
I've added Roman and Arabic numbering for the relays - because the strange number sequence is very confusing (Porsche really messed the sequencing up). Interchangeable relays are color coded as are unused relay sockets. I provide the labling of the relay socket terminals (as embossed on the panel). This is a standard that can be used to describe relay pin positions (Porsche uses it directly on some special function relays).

Relay part ID's include those equipped stock: relays for Automatic transmission are shown ("A:"), Manual Transmission shown ("M:"). Some stock part numbers are shown with alternate final 2 digits (e.g. 00/01) - these represent 2 alternate version of the same base function relay that are compatible - either of which may have been original equipment, either can be used. There are also superseding part numbers ("S:") which were not OE but are backwards compatible and are what is currently available new from Porsche.

Note relay names have been standardised, sometimes this means they are rather different from the wiring diagram labels, I did this for brevity, for consistency (Porsche was not disciplined here) and for functional clarity - some relays had meaningless or even missleading names.

PLUGS:
The Plug Terminal/Pin ID for the Central Electric Connection Plugs at the bottom of the panel is also detailed.

I'm still looking for feedback on these - certainly on style etc but moreso on any data content issues you see. Please download and print out to evaluate - But please understand its highly likely there will be further changes to these and as labelled they are Preliminary so don't stash them away as 'done' just yet...

I'm starting with versions for 1977-1984 for the old style panel:

A note that this is an excercise in 3 things:

1) Figuring out how to represent the data (the look & feel). probably mostly done now.
2) Gathering the data, standardising it across years loading it into a database and checking for correctness, updating for later changes etc (in progress..close?)
3) Collating the data out of the database & into the final diagram views (there will probably be some issues here..)

Most of the work went into 1 & 2 while 3 is partially automated so I don't actually create any diagram from scratch... its possible whole diagrams could be wrong by me putting in an incorrect parameter and being off by a year - whilst I try to check for this - sometimes its hard to see your own mistakes...
