018 Sport steering wheel with elevated hub
So that would make sense. I'm just surprised it's not rolled into those two I codes.

Three Wheelin'
The standard wheel is the Porsche 3 spoke wheel. I have several, and one is mounted in the car it came in, from the factory as original equipment.
The optional 4 Spoke Sport wheel was an option, but as with the standard 3 spoke wheel, both could be had with the 'raised hub' option: 018. OR, either wheel could be used without the longer extension.
The raised hub option extended the wheel further towards the driver and utilized a longer spacing hub on the steering column and the corresponding plastic cover on the column.
It also has nothing to do with the horn push which many folks seem to confuse, as the leather push is slightly higher on 'plane' with the spokes.
My Sunroof delete car has the raised hub option and utilizes the factory 3 spoke wheel with leather wrapping on the rim, but vinyl horn push.

As mentioned before on the other thread you started and I replied to, the window sticker or a Porsche COA are the only ways you will be able to determine what your 'I coded' car came with from Porsche.
The 'I code' was a packaging technique and a bundling package code grouping Porsche used to market a few options together. To create the desired package to fit a certain sales desire, either individually or collectively to a group of dealers or buyers.
There wouldn't be enough space on the white build code tag located on the car body or the tag used in the Warranty book if all the individual options were line coded out. The dealer ordering out the car would have received a bundling or grouping together package to fulfill marketing demands or desires.

I get ya MGJ, I'm going to have to try and get with Porsche about a COA because when the original owner died it seemed the title was the only thing she (the widow) knew where he had kept it.
More or less the next owner got the car, keys, and a title. But based on the condition of the car, and all the options it had, I'm betting he had all the goodies stashed somewhere. It's really too bad it all got lost. Didn't even have the owners manual.
So yeah, I'm in the market for a 86 turbo owners manual! LOL

That is correct for early cars, not for oval dash cars. I have the original 86 turbo dealer brochure and the 4 spoke is the only wheel available in 86 for the turbo.

FYI, According to the 1986 944 turbo sales brochure the only steering wheel option is the 30 mm raised hub with leather covering.
As for the "touring option" it lists the following options as part of that group; " sport steering wheel (raised hub by 30 mm), rear window wiper, cruise control, alarm, sunroof and partial leather interior".
As for standard equipment listed for the 1986 944 turbo, it lists "4-spoke leather sport steering wheel" again this is not the raised hub wheel.

Aha ! Did NOT know about the 4 spoke wheel becoming the only wheel in '86. I have seen 3 spokes used in series 2 cars, but they may have been added later. Thanks for the update.
But, there is also a 'Sport Touring Group' option which may or may not be seen in the Porsche Catalogue. It may have come along earlier or later in the year, or been deleted somewhere in the model year '86, and not seen in the printed form of a catalogue, depending on print date and availability of that option.
One thing tho about that option: It's on my '86 - 944 and delineated on the Monroney window sticker..... let me go thru my camera chips and files, and search that photo out and post it here. ( it is shown in my thread I started last June/16 on my white Sport Touring car: " Documenting a 28,000 mile Sport Touring Package 944 ".
It was an over 1800 dollar option in '86 and included more than a few single option offerings in that bundling

Couple of things I'm going to have to address. Any input appreciated.
1) Factory alarm key missing. My 87 is in the same boat. While I don't have a great interest in USING the factory alarm, I do have an interest in restoring it just to have everything working. I've never seen blanks for the alarm keys. Is there a source? I'm betting I could get a lock smith to cut me a working key if I had the correct blank. I've seen that Saab or Subaru keys sometimes work, but I'd like a Porsche blank if I can find one...
2) Lock actuators not actuating. Seller says they make a noise but don't move the locks. Can thye be rebuilt? If not, any source for good ones that last? Not something I want to do twice..
3) Hatch defrost. He replaced the hatch shocks, but the new ones didn't have the wiring for the defrost. So he just left it unhooked. Anyone found a good solution to this?
Aside from the LR M030 front/rear sways the current owner put in, and the Momo steering wheel, this car seems to be 100% stock. All the stock stuff will come with it, so it can easily be returned to stock if needed. While I might fiddle with some improved parts here and there, my plan is to keep all the stock parts, and not change ANYTHING that can't be returned to stock. So my interest in in restoration, not just rigging things to work. So any input is helpful on the best way to do that!

So it's 1 week 2.25 hours till I board the plane and go pick up my new 951! Deal is still looking good. Started quoting insurance this week, want to have full coverage start the day I pick it up so if anything happens on the way home I'm covered.
So, 1 more week till this post stays at the top of the 944 forum, cause I won't be able to shut up about it .
Wish me luck all goes well this week!
