I've already done the hard part of measuring...
a Subaru flat 4 and manual transmission locked into 2wd will fit under the 944 trunk floor...
Now Noah just needs to get it done already!

nope...too long.
Ej25 is only about 18" front to back, and you'd have to put the crank pulley right up to the "vertical flat" under the 944 rear seats where the torsion tube goes. you'd have to cut out the rear seat buckets too and make a new "firewall" there.
you'd also have to come up with a whole new rear suspension design but how hard can that be

There was a time when I considered it...
But why mess with perfection? Where would I put my spare tire & brief case?
The 944 cars are superb in naturally aspirated or force inducted versions. I happen to like the 2.5litre. Plus it sez Porsche.

The A/C stays because the climate control of the late 944 is one of my favourite features. Since I have been confusing with my frequent changes & mission statements, I can appreciate your comment.
I will in the near future be "updating" my mission statement & list of goals & changes. But a true race car, it will not be. So the A/C stays.
This is also very important since my windows don't roll down so easy.

Kinda jumping around here...
lotsa brainstorming about interior changes...
But back in the garage after a couple daze off. Looked for a new job and found one.
I have a beater rear valance with studs ripped out, filled the holes with epoxy. One day in a couple of months this unit will probably be installed along with some form of diffuser.
The frame's front crossmember sure doesn't look like it's top half is playing nice with the turbo bumper's top air inlet.
Added another cromoly crossmember. Been dragging my butt, sorry.

The aerodynamic adjustments and design that I will attempt to accomplish is kind of standard for many cars:
-Semi-flat bottom tray(s)
-Lowered ride height
-Extraction vents in fenders & hood
-Front Canards
-Front Splitter
-Rear hatch spoiler & wing with uprights
-Rear oem S2/turbo valance with aluminum diffuser
And after I develop these things then I can paint the car.
But you'll notice my fender vents are on the side, because my car is a street car and I don't want dirty water, slush and debris hitting my windshield. I am however thinking of making a plastic inner splash guard that would still allow air to pass through, but aerodynamics is tough to just guess at.

The rad holder has become the most important element.
Not really because of the rad hoses in relation to the engine - since those can easily be modified... but because the rad holding bracket also holds the a/c condenser (which has extreme low tolerance to position changing due to the refrigerant lines- something which could be custom made, something I'm trying to avoid). And the condenser in many ways dictates the charge air cooler position.
My goal is to get all three heat exchangers away from the engine as much as possible to allow the incoming air to have a path into & out of the heat extractor vents in the hood. That is the reason why I cut out the front cross member. I think the stock configuration has the engine very very close to the rad & fans... I suspect there is a lot of dirty air in the engine bay, so I am trying to clean it up & guide it to where I think it should go.
So tonight I bent up some upper half sections to hold the rad to the frame rails. The rails have already been "de burred" of old rad bracket uppers, so I should be able to get these tacked on tomorrow if all goes well.
