Default water temp 944 S2. Traffic jam= too high. Highway= too cold.

I have a 944 S2 which operates with various water temps.
When cruising on the highway the gauge are stable at about 75°C.
When in traffic jams or slow city driving it shows everything between 85-105°C.
Slow speed/idle=higher temps.

I've read that it´s normal that the water temp changes a bit on 944s with different driving(city vs highway), but this is too much?
The car lives in Norway, which is cold.

Any ideas?

I'd say that's pretty normal... it sounds like the thermostat is working. FWIW my 944 idles hot at about 96 deg. C, and that's with one radiator fan installed (weight reduction bro.. just kidding the other one broke). On the highway I've logged it to be consistently between 85-90 deg. C depending on ambient temp. On a very hot day it'll see 105 deg. C in standstill traffic, just like yours.

I see it move around a bit on my car, it will get up to 100c on a hot day with the ac going through the desert @ 90mph. Otherwise it runs cooler.

Double check that all of your cooling fans are working correctly, its a common failure point.

Mine goes almost to the 115 before the fans cool it down when its hot or in traffic..and yes slightly below half when on the highway. The gauge moves around a lot compared to modern cars.

As long as your not going into the red you should be ok

These cars can be a real pain to bleed the cooling system completely.

One trick that works for me is to start off with the level right to the radiator cap and never let the coolant level fall below the half way between the maximum line and the radiator cap
