944 child seats

944 child seats
Hi Everyone,
I have a 10 month old baby and really want to get a child seat in the back of my 944. I have been searching various forums and threads trying to find out what my options are. So far I have drawn a blank.
I phoned a porsche dealer but they said none of the seats they currently sell would work and we're pretty unhelpful.
Anyway I was just wondering if anyone knew of any car seats that are currently available that will fit?
Many thanks

May be kinda dangerous using a child seat in the 944, given the only way to secure it is a lap belt. Porsche did make a form fitting child seat for the 944 but they are now scarce as hen's teeth. I would be concerned about the child seat moving too much in a collision given there are no latch points. That and a conventional car seat will not fit as you have most likely discovered.

hi thanks for the replies.
The car has 'normal' shoulder and lap belts in the rear so I would think it would be just as safe as any other car regarding how the belts fit. I wouldn't be thinking about it if it was just a lap belt. I will be taking it to a seatbelt specialist just to check safety etc and will get some new belts fitted if they think it's required.
My problem at the moment is finding something that will physically fit in the rear of the car. There are some photos on Google images showing kids in the back of a 944. So it seems possible, however I can't find the names of the ones that fit or they seem to be discontinued?
If anyone knows of any seats that fit or even has one for sale I would greatly appreciate it as I think the car will have to go if I can't find a solution!

I have this available to purchase. If interested send me a pm. Designed to fit in the back of the 944 and can be used with lap or 2 point belts.
The belts fit into a special slot which is where the red line crosses the 'table' section

In most cases, the lap belt would only hold the seat. the child is still secured buy the 3 point belt in the chair. Very safe. We used these for years. I had a seat would come out of the stand that worked great in the rear seat area of the 968. A huge plus that made Porsche event attendance a family event.

I don't think any rear-facing seat will fit in the back. At that age your kid should really be rear-facing, which you can do in the front passenger seat as long as you don't have an airbag-equipped car. My 2 year old is currently still rear-facing in the passenger seat and my 5 year old is in the back without a carseat or booster, its a perfect fit. I bought some non-retractable 3 point seat belts for the back since the upper mounting point is present in all cars but the fourth point necessary for the retractor is missing.

Had her in the front a few times, and the wife in the back seat.
It works well as long as your 944 has no airbags. That's why single cab pickups have a button to disable them.

Hi, my little un' currently rides in a front facing car seat in the daily driver, which is perfectly safe for him. He outgrew his rear facing seat at around 7 months. So that isnt an issue. Good to know he'll be able to ride in the back without the extra seats in a few years time though!
Front facing has the added challenge of needing a place to anchor the top-tether. Some seats may have provisions for mounting with only a 3-point belt and no tether, you should probably look into that.

I think the minimum weight in the US is 23 pounds, but I was talking more about what's safe, not legal. Not trying to preach, just pointing out that there is universal agreement that rear-facing is safer, so it is desirable to keep kids rear-facing as long as possible.

Where did you come up with the 3-point belts? I'd like to do the same for my daughters since they'd love to ride in the 944, but without the 3-point belts, I'm not a fan of them spending much of any time in there.
