Default Power Steering Pump Rebuild

I was told there would be a 50/50 shot of successfully rebuilding the power steering pump. I took the pump apart and soaked it in my parts washer and I cleaned all of the accessible internal parts and made sure all mating surfaces were flush before reassembling the pump. All new seals got a light coat of ATF before being placed in their respective locations and all torque values were followed. I installed the pump and the new reservoir and the pump works beautifully. No more foamy fluid and tight steering wheel.

Good job! It's such a simple and cheap fix that you might as well try before buying a new one. Sometimes the rebuilds don't work because previously contaminated fluid running through the pump has caused pitting and corrosion inside the pump, new seals won't cure that. Also the reservoir is an important part of keeping the system clean, always put a NEW one in after replacing ps lines or rebuilding the rack or pump.
