Got the 8v out and the 16v in. Yeah!! Put the front suspension on in order to lower the front end. I only have 4 jack stands so I will need 2 to remove the rear end from the S2. I noticed that the front wiring harness is quite different. Quite easy to remove too until it reached the fuse box. I thought there would be a coupler or plug somewhere. So now I have to figure out how to swap the front harness. Pluck each connector out of the fuse box or dismantle the whole dash board(S).....

turns out the fusebox is plug and play. I only had to cut 3 wires. So now the front wiring harness is done. the transmission with attached torque tube is in place. I was surprised how easily the bolt holding the shift rod on the transmission broke off. I think it has an LSD because there was absolutely no room to move the transmission back for separating the TT. Waiting for rear main seal and assorted clutch parts to arrive from the US. Next weekend, pedals, complete attaching the wiring harness, swap calipers, prime front fenders...

Were you able to grab the numbers on top of the transmission case to verify if its an LSD?

LSD should make no difference in the case movement. Spin one of the axles/stub axles and see what direction the opposite one turns.

That's an open diff, a limited slip differential will cause the other axle to turn the same direction

I swapped the pedals on the weekend. Easier than I expected. But that brake pedal return spring was tough.
Next weekend: fuel lines, rear main seal, pilot bearing and clutch kit.

Got a lot done this weekend. Clutch done, TT and transmission and half shafts done. Fuel lines, all 4 calipers, rotors and backing plates. Had to cut a piece of the shifter tunnel because it had a bracket for the automatic shifter.
Next bleeds the clutch hydraulics and check the engine wiring harness and torque the front suspension.

BTW, does anyone know how to install turbo/S2 side skirts on a regular 944? I see there are screws mounted on the body of the turbo/S2, but non on the regular 944 body.

I will take some better pictures this weekend. Now the big decision, which ones to keep. -
red 86-951, https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/1...12040554022529
89-90, 944 S2, or the
91-928 https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/1...34275233967521
For sure I`m keeping the 81-930 and the 99-W210 E55T.
On auction site here another 90-944S2 just came up. It has not moved in 10 years.

Thanks for the pics! Oh man, that silver car's interior is awesome, I love the PORSCHE cloth.

Looks like a really fun project. BTW, if you keep the original 944 bodywork, it will be a "sleeper".

Definitely sell the 928! They are gigantic headaches!
