I'm sure there are much better ways to do it than that and to replicate the lenses you will have to do a 2 part mold which definitely complicates things. For simple projects though that is a cheap DIY way to do it and can be dyed any color or left clear.
The ones I plan on making will be made using high quality silicon two part molds and high quality clear plastic resin, and I will use a pressure chamber to remove any bubbles from the pieces. Hopefully they will be as perfect as the kinds you used to be able to buy from hookedoncars and can still buy at Klears (for too much money).

Hey BajaBlueJay - I sure would be interested in buying a bunch of these if you could make them. They are the plastic adjustment pieces for the lenses on a Porsche 944 turbo fog light. Always seem to be broken and they don't glue back together that well. I could send you one to model off of....

Not sure if they would be strong enough but, it seems to me that one cannot have too many air-dam hinges.

A little update for you guys,

I've taken up Josh's challenge, and he kindly sent me the clips. I've modeled them up, and have them in the printer as I type. I'll be experimenting with the new disolvable material (high impact polystyrene that dissolves in d-limonene citrus cleaner). For these complicated clips, I want to make sure the entire print is surrounded in support.

Attached is a render of what I came up in SolidWorks.

With the low winter sun getting to me, I finally sourced some sun visors on ebay. Made up the interior clips to print. Note the white lines visible on the mouth of the clip. This is because I printed with break-away supports, not dissolvable. They fit nice and snug though!

Scott and Van, I'll get back to you guys tomorrow!

How about the plastic piece (I think there are three) that keep the ignition wires together and off the manifold?

Those are still available from Porsche, I just put them on my S. They live in a high heat area so I don't think the printed ones would live.

Think you could make a new version of the early 944/924S shifter surround trim ring? The plastic that snaps into the console, that the leather boot wraps around?
