Default Aftermarket seat advice

I'm looking for some input on aftermarket seats for my S2. Obviously I need to sit in some seats myself, but maybe this can help narrow my search a bit.

Who has what, and what do you like or dislike about your seat? My goal is to have seats, a harness/roll bar (probably the Redline bolt-in bar), and harnesses for DE's in a car I will also occasionally use as a DD.

Ideally I want to keep the 3-point belts, have a seat which is reasonably comfortable, and not too difficult to get in and out of for non-track use. I'm not asking too much, right? :-)

Any/all input is greatly appreciated!

Sparco leather Milanos/Demons. $4~5 k (photos 1~3).

Sparco RS seats, $6 k (photo 4).

Porsche 993/996/Recaro sports seats $5~9 k(photos 5~7).

late model Porsche/Audi Recaro seats $10~15 k (photos 8,9).

buy good seats, keep them for life. if you happen to sell your 944, sell it with your old seats.

for the 944 seats, cloth is way under-rated (last photo).....

I had these on my street/DE car and loved them... Easy to get in and out of since they are not fixed back. They accept 5-point racing harnesses. And they bolt right when you get thebase for the 944 from them. You can get them from and Jegs or Summit Racing.

I am using Recaro Speed Seats with a Brey Krause harness bar and BK anchor points for easy install/removal of harnesses and retention of stock belts. The seat backs recline and tilt forward. They also have a sleeve in the seat bottom cushion to route sub belt for 5/6 point harnesses. Mike

I'm using sabelt duos, an autopower roll bar, and 3pt harnesses.

The seats are FIA approved and fit me perfectly. They are quite narrow for most however. Even with minimal padding, my wife doesn't complain on road trips. They are shaped well enough they don't need a lot of padding. The only "issues" is buckling the seat belt. Going over the top leaves a gap at your waist and going through the hole takes some effort.

Oh, I did have to install a steering wheel quick release. My thigh doesn't fit between the wheel and seat on entry/exit. Once I'm in, its worth the effort. Most comfortable car I've driven.

I have the older version of the Sabelt Duo. I wear a 34/34 and the fit is pretty snug. One of the cool things about these seats is all sparco padding and sliders fit this seat.

I got lucky and found this on the local CL for $300 for the pair, so you might be surprised what you find locally. I would check CL, PCA, etc. Shipping on seats can be pretty horrendous. I tried getting in and out of the car with the standard wheel, but it just wasn't going to work.

VT951 is another source for harness bars.

Also, sounds like you already know this, but actually sitting in them and finding the one that fits you is the key.

I'm a 32in waist so the sabelts give me a little wiggle room.

I can't member what they cost, but it wasnt much. I was able to save bucket loads by picking them up at the US distributor in Peoria, IL.

For a quick release, I bought the rouge engeneering unit per 87944turos advice. If anything, he didn't say enough good things about it. It is very well made, looks great, has zero play, was easy to install, and my horn still works. I wouldn't consider anything else.

Unless you're getting these for your track car I can't imagine why you'd want to give up the adjustability of the factory seats. Frankly, the P-seats look a hell of a lot nicer.

Glad to hear that worked out, love mine. Just a very well thought out and manufactured piece.

The OEM seats look better than all but the most expensive (porsche) options shown, but I don't follow your adjustability comment. I was able to adjust the height (gained headroom), distance form the steering wheel, and angle of my seats. If anything, it has more adjustment than stock. Yes, it takes a wrench, but once I found the right place I've never wanted to move them. My wife and I both agree it is more supportive and comfortable than stock.

Cerullo has some pretty nice seats as well. Available in vinyl and leather. I put the vinyl GT seats in mine. Look good and pretty comfortable.

I use the Sparco Pro 2000. Fine for a race car. Years ago in my 911 street car i had put in some Corbeau race seats. Drove across the country with nothing bad to say. My stock boxster seats always gave me a sore lower back.

Hello everyone.

We sell a ton of seats... My advice is to find a local dealer and go try out some seats. If you were in the NYC area you could pop into our showroom.
I strongly advise against buying seats you haven't sat in first, there are more variables than just comfort you need to account for such as torso length, location of harness slots, leg support etc.

Good luck
Best

I absolutely agree. That said, it is very difficult to find dealers in this area with seats in stock. As I'm sure you know, shipping is so expensive eating the cost to ship the seat to the store kills the profit.

I'm hoping to get some input on what seats people use and like, and then I plan to run around the paddock at my next DE asking if I can sit in seats! One thing it seems I have to find out in person is the location/height of the harness slots relative to my shoulders.
