Post flip key things

you know how audi and vw have those cool lazer cut keys that are all like a switchblade and stuff. do they make blank keys liek that that you could make a copy of your key with. possebly a porsche styple one. anyone ever seen anything like this. do they maybe come with newer porsches and could be interchanged?

yep, the 993 TT had them (switchblade fobs) and the factory 944 key blank can be snapped in them.

Also, the 996 key handle works with the 944 series key blank and is a nice "upgrade". I have both.

Or you install the guts from your aftermarket alarm key fob into the new one.

Look one up online with Yellowpages.com

Then call and do the order on the phone.

brumosporsche.com works as well.

Just called up the Dealer in Northern Chicago (the Exchange). Price for one switchblade fob for the 993 TT - $145.20

I thought it was a cool idea to get one, but not anymore......

My buddy has one of these switchblade key fobs for his NA 993. It's really cool - but not $150 cool. Too bad there is not an aftermarket alternative...

hey guys, try ebay. The VW and Audi ones are on there all the time, and i saw a Porsche one a few weeks ago. Not that horribly expensive either.
For the electronics you might have some luck if you have one of the new alarm systems that can learn multple remotes. Autoloc has one, and Omega, and i think Crimestopper as well.

Now you guys have gotten me thinking about this thing. <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" />

It's about 1.5" long, black, with the "Porsche" logo printed on the side. It's kind of bulky, but definitely fairly unique and cool. Just press the little grey button and SHICK! out pops the key - just like a switchblade knife.

Like I said, it's not worth $150 IMHO, but if I saw one at a more reasonable price I would buy it.
