Default Swapping early dme to late..

I want to swap the late dme/afm into my 84. I have done some searching, and everything I have found says that all you need for the swap is the late dme, and late afm. I just want to confirm that this is ALL I need. Plugs are the same? No wiring modifications?

early DME has a stumble that happens when you let off the throttle because the fuel cutoff is set at a very low RPM so it drops to like 800 before settling back to idle.

late DME doesnt have that, also can be chipped. late DME/AFM combo has a 5v input signal so it can be used in maf conversions

so its a worthwhile mod then? just plug and play? DME sensor itself or does the whole panel need to be changed? is there a parts list or a kit or a writeup of some kind?

Lol yep thats as simple as it gets. Unplug late afm and dme and plug into early car. Only 2 things you need and NOTHING else.

WOW!!! exactly what I needed. Just asked the same question in the thread" price of late DME n AFM" I was going to buy early DME and AFM, but the guy said that he has both early and late, but he prefered me to buy the late. Said they were interchangeable ONLY if you change them both, cant do one and not the other. Didnt think of this changing the "early idle stumble", mine goes down to about 600 after I rev it alittle, then idles at 950. I didnt even think of the chipping mod that you can do also! Sweet guys thanks.

be careful with the chips as they work by advancing the spark alot. you will need to use premium gas with a chip.

I thought that the injectors also had to be changed to late model injectors when changing the DME?
