the Cayman respects its elders! My son considers it his "914." Says he plans on keeping it as long as I've kept the 914 and I believe him...and I'm going with him this weekend to pick up his new toy, a 993 coupe to mate with the Cayman... (seems this Porsche gene is dominant- I got it from my dad and it was passed down again...)

What kind of question in that!? Was a family PCA member since birth...and the day I got the CS I became a "real" member

I will work with my Dad to keep everyone updated on this restoration project. Now that its off to Stalltech for the body work and paint, we can start rebuilding the engine and play with the new toys.

They're working on it and have some stuff coming for it from Restoration Design but no pix.
BTW, nice article in Pano- good to have some "young" blood in the PCA to offset us old farts... and ones that like 914's to boot!!

Cool. I'd love to see some photos as they work the new metal in. What did they have to get from Restoration Design?

Thanks for the compliments. 914's forever!!!

I need to call them and see what's going on... haven't gotten a bill for the month of April yet, don't know if that's good or bad news...

Aaaah, progress payments, huh? In a way, for expensive work, that's a good way to run a business. And it let's the client know that "progress" has been made.

Should be getting some pix soon- now I need to get MY act together and start rebuilding the engine (starting with cleaning out the remains of the mouse houses on top of the oil cooler and cylinders-yech) and cleaning all the assorted parts I took off. THEN, going through and organizing the list of NEW parts needed $$$$$. Can't wait to park the finished product next to its silver brother...

UPDATE!!

Stopped by today as I was driving nearby- great progress- they're going to send pix all I had was my phone camera and they wouldn't have been worth it.

Man!! It will be better than new- engine compartment and hell hole look new or better than new. New updated strengthening outer longitudinal going in thanks to Brad Mayeur (the guy from Peoria that always has an ad in Excellence) on pass side. All old undercoating off- sail panel repair next...

Getting excited

Gotta start working on engine and all the parts I took off that need major cleaning etc. Unfortunately this ain't gonna be cheap, but we'll have a better than new 914 when we're done- this thing will around for a long time for me and then my boys to enjoy!! Assuming they don't mandate ethanol only gas for everyone- and that's tough to argue against in the corn state!! We aren't exactly in the majority!! (don't get me started!!!)

What is the time frame at this point to be completed? Just a guess I am sure.

Time frame? I have NO idea- I've got a TON to do as far as all the parts to assemble it... and first need to inventory all the stuff I need to replace! That may scare me to death... I can relate to what Pete Z has been going through!!
